Oceanfront In New England

Hi there- Any suggestions for some nice oceanfront places in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island or Connecticut? Feel like I need some time by the sea....

You are forgetting the best coastline in the northeast MAINE.

nothing great in CT. We live here and we always camp out of state. Maine is our preference for waterfront/ocean. Let me know what you find out. We haven't been there in about 25 years. I'd be interested in going back to a nice, waterfront campground that's NOT a parking lot.

totally understand....we spent most of our first summer within a 1day travel time with the Windjammer. If you have "patience" when towing and you don't mind driving early in the morning (3am) look for a camp ground on Cape Cod (Lower Cape towards Provincetown). Great experience...we try to spend four+ days when traveling to the Cape during the summer...check out Atlantic Oaks in Eastham

People from Cape Cod vacation in Maine. 20 miles north of NH is Ogunquit /wells area. Some of the most beautiful coastline in America. I agree with MainelyUS

I'm only aware of one oceanfront campground in Maine. It's Libby's at York Beach and it gets booked pretty quickly.

Ashaway Rhode Island

We are seasonal at Ashaway RV resort in Ashaway Rhode Island ( Rhode Island Campgrounds - Ashaway RV Resort - HOME ) and we LOVE IT there! They do day campers, seasonals and semi-seasonal. They are still running the spring/fall fling where you can get the first two, or last two months of the year for $799.

It's a new campground, only about 2 years old. Our campsite is 4 miles from Blue Shutters Beach in Charlestown, and about 8 miles from Misquamicut. But only a few miles off I95 to make getting here easy. Probably an hour and a half from Worcester; 2 hours from Western Mass. It's easy to hit all the South County beaches from the campground.

Campground is new, so the trees haven't filled in yet. But a nice new pool and rec facility, heated adult only hot tub and plenty of games and activities. Every site in the park is 20/30/50 amp electric, water, FULL sewer and CATV. Wireless internet (free) through out the park.

Seasonals like ours have cement pads. All sites have fire rings. The office will deliver firewood to your site. There's a small store at the office, a GREAT local deli just outside the park, and a 24 hour Walmart Superstore 3 miles away.

A season's pass for Wuskeneau Beach (Town of Westerly) is $100/year for Memorial Day to Labor Day. Off season you can park pretty much anywhere. Lots of activities around Misquamicut, like spring fest, fall fest, beach drive in movies and live music (tunes on the dunes).

Contact the folks on the website for more info. Clint is the owner and he's an awesome guy. They own Whispering Pines too.

Video is Blue Shutters beach in October. We swim/fish right into the end of October.

I agree about CT having nothing at the shore. We have been to Ashaway in RI and love it. I know that there are some in the Cape Cod area, but we haven't been there. So, I can't give any first hand info about them.

Check out Horseneck Beach in Westport MA. We really liked it. Hard to get a reservation, but they keep a couple sites open as "walk-ups." Stff was very nice and got us one of those for our last trip.

We're actually heading to Sweetwater Forest on the Cape Memorial weekend. We'll be coming from just north of Portland, ME. and not sure if I should use I 95 or 495 with our new 2015 312BHDS. It'll be a Saturday so hoping I 95 isn't too busy.

Either route will get you there, just be sure you use the Sagamore Bridge / Rte 6 to cross the canal.

I would avoid I95 if you are going to Cape Cod ...we take I495 which will put you on Rt6. Check it out on Google maps then plug it into the GPS.
Enjoy
