Pine Mountain Resort (RVC)-Thanksgiving

Our family camped this holiday here in Pine Mountain,GA...about 1hr SW of Atlanta, GA.
Full service, well maintained private campground that offered a Thanksgiving pot luck dinner for the afternoon. They provided the smoked turkey & pork shoulder and campers attending brought sides & dessert...awesome gathering for the holiday. About 150 people attended and it was delicious and comfortable setting inside their large activity center.
I'd recommend a visit here for the holiday if your looking for a Thanksgiving trip...also have Calloway Gardens only 3miles south of campground plus FDR State Park.

We camped at FDR State Park back in June when my daughter was competing for the Miss Georgia title down in Columbus. Did you see Fantasy in Lights at Calloway Gardens while you were there?

Yes, each year we make the Fantasy in Lights show plus always spend one day exploring the Gardens...great outing each time!

Old Car, how did you like FDR? I have thought about going there myself.

We were there for three nights and we stayed way in the back, near the rear entrance. We had that loop to ourselves--maybe two or three other units camping. We spent most of our time in Columbus because of my daughter but I would go back. I used to live in Atlanta so I have day tripped to that park before and of course the Gardens are right there.

Ditto...we prefer the rear entrance campsites, can't ride bikes much as the road grades are steep.

X2 on the steep grades FDR. Stayed there a few times. Great place for base camp. Nice campground.

Thanks for the good replies about FDR. It is definitely a place that I will want to visit.

Didn't mean to hijack the thread about Pine Mountain tho. I looked at their website & it looks very nice, just not really my style of camping. I prefer a more rustic setting so I usually gravitate towards the state and county parks. They look as if they have quite a few amenities there beyond a place to stay & hike trails.
