Road to Fort Pickens,Florida

Weather Channel shows rivers flooding or near flooding in the area near Fort Pickens in Florida. Does anyone know about the road on Santa Rosa Island that goes to the COE Fort Pickens campground? We've been told that the next time the road to this campground washes out, it will not be rebuilt and our favorite Florida campground will close.

Not sure where that is, really. We are going to St Rosa RV park in Navarre next week. If it is close to there, we can go check it out for you.

It would be great if you could check it out. It's just across that long bay bridge and at the other end of the island. Interesting history if you've never been there. And please let me know what you think of Santa Rosa park. If Ft Pickens closes, we'll have to find a new place to stay.

We will. I've never been there, so we want to go exploring. Only staying two nights, but will try and get down there.

I wouldn't be surprised if it were closed. We were there a couple of weeks ago, before the torrential rains. The roadway is very low, probably a phone call would be in order. Good Luck.

For more information on current road conditions and our latest forecast concerning the risk of flooding, contact a ranger at a visitor contact station or phone the road conditions hotline at (850) 934-2656.

Emerald Beach RV Park in Navarre is nice and worth taking a look at. We had a nice stay there.

We didn't make it all the way there, but most of the way. No problems. But, I will tell you that St. Rosa RV resort is top knotch! Lots of space between units, great view of the sound, very clean and very well laid out.

We were just at Fort Pickens last weekend, all the sand had been cleared and no water close to the road at all. Going back for Easter weekend.
