RV Park or Campground near Pennsburg, PA

Looks like Wodstock and I will be headed to a wedding in early April, contemplating taking the TT instead of getting a hotel if the weather isn’t too cold by then. Anyone have advice for where to park it? Will probably only need electric, since it’ll only be 3-4 days.

If all you need is electric hookup, Hickory Run State Park is bout an hour north of Pennsburg.

A bit fancier (and a bit pricier) Lake in Wood Campground is about an hour south west

That Lake in Wood resort looks beautiful! Going to have to try that one. Even at 70 bucks a night in April, they have heated indoor pool and lots of nice stuff.

At $70 a night, wouldn't you be better off going without the TT and finding a decent roadside motel? I would think the prices would be under a $100 a night for early April and you can find some really great mom n pop run places. Unless of course, you are taking the TT because you just want to get out and camp!

Actually, if you find a motel with a heated indoor pool for 70 bucks a night in the northeast, please let me know! I didn't know there were any great mom and pop places. Most of the places I see that MIGHT be like that are often used by junkies.

All the places in NJ like that survive off government issued housing vouchers, people are living in them somewhat full-time. There is no shortage of criminal element within that group either. Not saying they are all bad, but I'd be very wary about staying among them.

Unfortunately, they're not all in NJ! We've got a couple around my area that are like that. [emoji52]

What's really sad is I didn't know this until I worked in social services and saw what was happening. Before that, you would just read a newspaper article that so and so was shot, stabbed, whatever, at some of these places. And I figured it was some weird random thing. NOT random. Undesirables are actually LIVING at these places, and now and then their undesirable behavior makes the news.

not sure the towing distance. but with my towing gas mileage if it was more then a few hundred miles the hotel room would be the more economical way to go.

Yep. Double the gas you would pay in a car, and double your tolls, then add in rv park fees, then see if hotel room is worth it.

Surely there are other campsites in the area. Those are the only two I've visited within a reasonable distance. I was very happy with both and don't hesitate to recommend. LIW, while significant'y more expensive than HRSP, is competitively priced for a privately owned campground with similar amenities. Personally however, I prefer the more rustic state park atmosphere and you can't beat the price.

IIRC that indoor pool connects to the much larger outdoor pool. You can swim under that bridge out to the main pool. I believe the far "wall" in that photo is actually a series of zip down canvas panels (like pop-up camper sides) and are removed in the warmer months.

mdarmody, every time I see your screen name, I go back to "Boardwalk Empire". I know you're probably sick of hearing that.
