Schoodic Woods campground, Maine

Hi Folks,

We're on our way this morning to Schoodic Woods campground for three nights. This is a campground that opened last October, and is operated by Acadia NP.
Acadia NP is divided in two. One part is on Desert Island, which people are familiar with, and the other part is on the mainland (an hour away) near Winter Harbor.
We noticed there are not too many pictures of that campground online, or the surroundings
We will take some pictures and post them on our return....so folks can have a better idea of Schoodic.

Yes pictures please, we are going to Bar Harbor in late September and we may go there. No reservations there so we can drift around some. I can only eat so much lobster

We just came back from Acadia and Schoodic Woods Campground.... That campground is just beautiful.
Loop B has water/electricy, and Loop A has electricity only. That being said, the bathrooms are nice (Everything is new).....but there are NO SHOWERS on the campground.
Sites are huge and super clean with a picnic table and a big fire pit.

Schoodic campground is 5 minutes from Winter Harbor. Quaint little town (not too many stores) but still has an IGA, Ice Cream place and a few restaurants. The Raven's Nest is a very good restaurant (A little pricey, but the food was great).

Take a ride to Schoodic Point....you won't regret it. Bring your folding chairs or sit on the rocks and enjoy the views.

If you plan to go to Bar Harbor (a little less than an hour away) you have three choices:
1- Take your car (good luck finding parking)
2- The shuttle bus from the campground (no cost....it's free)
3- Take a ferry from Winter Harbor ($24.00 return each adult)...45 minutes.

As for Acadia NP on Mt Desert Island......your car or the shuttle.

I forgot to mention: The shuttle will accommodate your bikes.

I may have forgotten something.......but anyway, here is link to a few pics

Checkout RVFTA's campground of the week podcast. They discuss this campground in great detail.

Just spent 2 nites at Schoodic Woods and boy the National Park service hit a solid triple (homer would have been if the sites had sewer). With the added trails hiking and biking Schoodic is great

Has anyone been to Narrows too in Trenton Maine. We have heard good things, however we are worried about it being a Thousand Trails place, and once we get there we will have to sit through a sales pitch. We are not up for that. I will drive the extra 5 miles and stay at Timberland Acres. Thanks ahead of time.

Sorry hit the send by mistake. We stayed 1 week in July 2015. We had a site facing the water but one the other side from the waterfront sites. It was a great campground and the management were great when we had an issue with our motor home. They put us in contact with an excellent mobile repair service.
We had no sales pitch as I did not even realize they were thousand trails.
The campground is large but very convenient to Bar Harbor and Acadia NP. Great lobster ponds right on the main road just outside of the CG.
I would stay again if in the area and would highly recommend.

Stayed at Narrows Too Twice and prefer it over Mt Desert Narrows. Both Mt Desert Narrows and Narrows Too, as well as Patton Pond west of Ellsworth Me., are Encore resorts. Thousand Trail Members normally get a 20% discount to stay at any Encore Resort (early summer and late Autumn, sometimes a 50% discount. There shouldn't be a membership sales pitch.
