Sweetwater Creek campground

Just spent the weekend here. Its in Georgia, right outside Canton on HWY 20 on Lake Allatoona. Its a boater friendly campground. Has a beach for the kids. You can also walk right off the bank into the water from your site. One big plus for us its close to home and check out times at the COE campgrounds here in Ga is 3pm. So you get a little more time to spend. Its also about 15-20 minutes off I-75 so some of you guys passing thru might be able to use it. Happy Camping.

For those not local to the area... Tank99 stayed here:

Facility Details - SWEETWATER CG, GA - Recreation.gov

Not to be confused with

Sweetwater Creek State Park | Georgia State Parks

The state park is nice but has no campground. Good fishing, I am told.

Tank: Do you have any sites that you could recommend to someone that's never been there? Thanks

I would start at by going to recreation.gov and look at the map. 36-45 are good sites, the even # are on the lake and if you have a boat you can tie up at you site. We are in 45 and of all the sites I mentioned before, this one was a bit of a hassle to back in. Colvert on both sides of driveway and not much room to maneuver the truck out in front. I drove around and looked at the other ones and about 80 percent of the sites will handle a 30' TT. Some bigger and some smaller . Now some of the sites like 57-75 are tent only. 1-29 are up on a hill and it a little tight for bigger TT. Pop ups and Hybrids would do great up there. Also a lot of shade, actually the campground as a whole is shaded pretty good. I hope this helps some. Happy Camping.

Also thanks Radio I forgot about the state park.

Now Just asking, but by your statement, small tight sites. Do you mean on top of each other?
If so yes they are some. But they are some that are not. Good point to bring up, we where with other family members with campers so I didnt notice it at first. We where back and forth between 3 sites.
