Visiting Virginia's Eastern Shore

Virginia’s Eastern Shore is the portion of Virginia located on the Delmarva peninsula. (Delaware, Maryland and VA (Virginia). It includes those parts of Virginia that are bordered to the West by the Chesapeake Bay and to the East by the Atlantic Ocean. Click here for a map. Though it is not shown on the map, access from the South is via the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, starting in Virginia Beach, VA. (Think Norfolk for approximate location of Virginia Beach.)

Camping on the Eastern Shore, that’s what Virginians call it, is a pricy proposition. This is simply a matter of location. They have it and they know it! Be sure to make reservations way in advance. Click here for a listing of campgrounds. Most have websites.

If you are camping at the Southern end of the peninsula, then Norfolk and Virginia Beach, both located at the southern end of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, may provide you with an interesting day tour.
