Considering the auto engineers with attorneys watching over their shoulders rate most 1/2tons about 13K for towing ability, I think your artificially/arbitrarily low. A more real world number for a TT with that large side surface would be in the neighborhood of 8K. Pulling a flatbed like they do in the tests take it up to the full 13K.

I’ve read a lot of posts that are saying that you are getting 2000lb of payload?
Could you please reply on how you’re getting the most payload out of your 1/2 ton truck.
I’m open to all of the manufacturers
When looking at 2019-20 Silverado/Sierra half ton trucks, also look at the trailering information sticker. It provides all the numbers you need to consider. It's located in the same area as the yellow sticker.

To see actual payloads for various trim and package content F-150 trucks, check out the thread on the F-150 forums that I list below. In post 1 is an Excel spreadsheet that has several hundred trucks listed over a number of model years. I'm not sure if the OP is still maintaining the spreadsheet, but people are still posting information including MY 2020 trucks. There are now over 1,000 posts in the thread.

I found the info useful in deciding what options I wanted on my truck. F-150s run the gamut from just over 1,000lbs to well over 2,000.

If the OP can get a 1/2 ton to get the job done then do it.
I for one hate the ride in my 2019 F250 Lariat when being used as a daily driver, I would rather walk.
The 250 is fine once it gets 1000+ pounds of tongue weight or in the bed (it tows like a dream) but empty is a complete different story.
Plus you will need a second job to cover fuel costs as the 250 with 6.2L V8 barely gets 12mpg empty.
Sure dreamers will tell you they get 15-16 even 18 when empty , I can tell you those numbers are a pipe dream. I know the normal few on this forum will say that there’s gets this and that... it doesn’t happen.
Unless you are towing every day don’t get a 3/4 or 1-ton unless you have to.
I own one just for towing, my daily is a half ton that rides like a Cadillac.

You night consider a K-2500 standard Silverado not HD. Ride is good and has enough capacity to pull the TT you have . I get 17 MPG running empty on the interstate. With mine. A 3/4 ton Is the difference of driving and enjoying the trip than driving white knuckled with a 1/2 ton Have been there and done that. I pull a Hemisphere 272RL with mine with a dry weight of a little over 7000lbs . And a tung weight of 845lbs.

This came from a Ford Blog for figuring tow vehicle when towing a trailer:

Here's an example of a payload of 1,399 (adjust yours for your payload, weight in truck and trailer tongue weight)

Weight in Truck
You, your wife and kids: 400 lbs
WDH: 50 lbs
Camping gear/cooler/truck accessories/car seats: 150 lbs
Total: 600 lbs

1,399 lbs (truck payload) - 600 lbs (weight in truck) = 799 lbs

Trailer tongue weight is typically 10-15% of trailer, with 13% being a good average for travel trailers.

799 lbs / 13% = 6,145 lbs

Your maximum trailer weight is 6,145 lbs (with the above example)

Obviously, you will have to do your own calculations, but that is how you estimate your maximum trailer weight. Keep in mind, this is the maximum trailer weight, not the dry trailer weight. This weight needs to factor in propane, food/drinks, kitchen equipment, bedding, camping gear, water/sewage (unless you ALWAYS pull empty) and anything else you might need.

Check out the Nissan Titans. I had looked at them a few months back and many of them had 2000pd payloads on the stickers.

How much is your safety worth?
Just bite the bullet and upgrade the tv to a 2500 diesel. You'll be glad you did , and fuel mileage will be negligible if not better than a gasser when towing. And, you will find it to be much more enjoyable travling. Not to mention less stress on the vehicle, meaning less chance of breakdown.
I finally got my ram 3500 drw(tradesman package) high output diesel, Aisan tranny, max tow. Couldn't be happier, and I never have to worry about payload or gcwr again.
5510lb payload, 30,000 lb towing.
Plus right now you can get a sweet deal on 2019 leftover inventories

Man I see people towing large TT's and 5Fer's all the time with half tons. The dealer that sold him the truck said it would tow over 10K lb. and the salesman that sold him the camper said his truck would pull it with no problem. There you go.

I couldn't disagree more with this statement. I have a 2019 F350 and think the ride is firm but not harsh at all. It is my daily driver and I enjoy driving it.

I can say for certain that the ride in my 2500HD with 55 psi all around is a lot more comfy than the ride in my wife's BMW X3M in sport+ mode. That X3M will pound your teeth out on a bad road.

I run my 2500HD at 65 psi all around when empty. It rides as well as my 2008 Tundra.

Take a look at the Nissan Titan XD 5.0 Cummins Diesel. Tow capacity is almost 12k and payload is 1920. Technically it’s a 1/2 ton but really is considered a 5/8 ton. Best option for that size. I tow a 27’ Evo at 8k lbs and can pass others going up hill. But you have to be ok with a Nissan. :-)

You forgot to mention fuel weight, and any tools you might need.

You sure about that?
The sticker reads ( a certain capacity/ weight) including passengers and cargo should not exceed ( a certain capacity/weight)
I believe that fuel is cargo

Why you need a 3/4 truck- when that diesel big rig blows by you at 75 mph and your trailer starts wagging like a dogs tail .When you have to keep both hands on the wheel to keep it on the road . When you hit the Grapevine headed south on 100 degree day - or over Mt Shasta .Or when you go through $1000 worth of brake repairs because that little engine can’t control the load with engine braking going down hill . Those 4 door 1/2 ton pick ups they sell are really only good for taking the family to Costco. If you bought a 1/2 ton truck and did a run over the Sierras with then came back and tried it with a well equipped 3/4 ton you will notice the difference in ease of driving .

Nissan discontinued making the diesel version.
