1/2 Ton Truck as a Toad

This question is probably posted here, but I can't find it. I am going to be buying a MH in spring 2012 and love my 1/2 ton Silverado truck. The question is does anyone tow a 1/2 ton truck 4 down? What is your MH/engine and how does it do in the western mountains? My truck weighs 5700 lbs full of fuel and no people.

First thing I would check is Can the truck be towed 4 down. Many automatic transmissions don't allow this. Since your truck weighs 5700 pounds, it is most likely 2 wheel drive, so no transfer case to disengage the transmission as in some 4 wheel drives. DO your homework on the truck first, it may be impossible.

It is a 4X4 and owners manual states it can be towed 4 down. The 5700 lbs it an actual weigh at Flying J, full of fuel and nothing else. I figure if I am driving a MH the truck will be empty except for a couple of bikes. I know I"m probably looking at a class A diesel pusher. Just wondering if anyone else is doing this and how it is working out.

Put transfer case in neutral then you can. transfer case must be in neutral
