11 Tahoe & 02 shamrock 23b

Need help figuring out the best wdh for this setup.

Vehicle: 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe LS w/Factory HD towing package 3.42 axle, max weight 8500 lbs, max tongue weight of 1,100 lbs

Travel Trailer: 2002 Shamrock 23 - hitch weight 388 lbs, axle 3199, dry 3587, gvwr 4788.

Whats the best weight distribution hitch setup for this? If Im measuring correctly Im getting a 2ft from the interior top of the receiver to the ground, and almost exactly 1ft from the hitch to the ground. Seems like an awfully high almost 1 ft difference Id need to make the camper level while Im towing.

As a starting point...

Get your trailer level ... on a level pad or carpark to measure hitch height.
top of the BALL should be approx 1.5 inches above the hitch on the trailer.

with the right hitch you can move the ball up/down several inches each way.
I use a Equalizer 4 works well with my Yukon.


Tahoe's / Yukon suspension is pretty soft. You might want to add the Firestone Gas spring to stiffen it up and reduce the sag
My yukon has the same sag issue.

Left standard ... the Yukon/Tahoe tows fairly good
but leaves a bit of room for improvement


Don't expect to be able to do more than 65-70mph on the freeway!
Mine likes to do about 60 - 65 mph
