1200 lbs Trunnion bars interchange with 800 lbs

Question:
Can the 800 lbs trunnion bars be changed to 1200 lbs without changing anything else?
Are hanger brackets, hitch head, cam arms and mounting plate remain the same?
in other words, can I just purchase 2 trunnion bars of 1200 lbs and use them on existing equipment (might be over tongue weight for 800 lbs)

I had a Reese WDH and switched trunion bars only from 600 to 1000 without changing anything else. I just changed the bars themselves, didn't change the trunions either. The older style bars had a removable trunion on the bars themselves. Just pulled a bolt, changed the bar & chains over and had new 1000# bars.

I am wondering about the sway control cam themselves where the bars rest. ( remember , i got the cam bracket welded on frame).

Short answer, yes. All the bars from a manufacturer are the same length. That is why there is one set of directions for installing and setting up. a hitch. If each wight bar was different, it would have to have a different set of installation instructions.

If you go to the heavier bars, you may have to change the ball angle to get the correct amount weight transfer.

How about the width of the bar
Which sits in the cam part, same?
The reason I ask is that when i mentioned/question the store I purchased the system from, the owner/salesman/installer assured me 800 lbs was more than enough. I also asked what was involved
In changing bars, he showed me the increased size of bars (1200) and said i needed to
Change the cams where bars sit. Not sure if he was just snowing me so not to have to exchange bars or not

Reese dual cam hitch. Reese only sells one size cam, so they all will work with the those cams.

Here is the link to Reese website, you can verify yourself.

http://www.reese-hitches.com/

A lot of sales people don't have a clue sometimes, they just want to sell.
