As a preface I know this setup has areas of excessive slack and there are those that will not purchase it because of that. I am not one of them. I purchased it and really like the automatic feature and the slack doesn't bother me however.........on to discussion below
My trailer is a toy hauler that when loaded at a minimum has an 800lb+ Harley in the back and at most an additional 500lb sportster. So this makes my tongue lighter obviously. I don't skimp on loading the front down but I don't think I have 800lbs of stuff to load up front. Anyways I digress.
When towing going 55+ mph and I come to some bumpy highway road and I mean more wavy the trailer tongue bounces up and down and I know it's probably the weight in the back making the front even lighter, but with the superglide hitch there is some play in the slider.
If you look at the picture below the play is from the
hitch plate when sitting on the hitch. It then is held down with two pins. I thought I read of a fix but maybe I'm imagining it. But my thought was drilling out that pin to a larger hole and using a larger pin to eliminate the play. Anyone heard of something like that?
