2.7 Ecoboost Towing
Hello all. New to the Forum. I have a 2018 F150 2.7L Ecoboost, 3:55 gears in the rear. Supercrew 4x4. With a tow rating of 7,600#s. Payload of 1630#s.
My rig is a 2013 forest river salem 30qbss. From what I am seeing, seeing conflicting info on trailier weight specs. TW 980 lbs UVW 6575 lbs-6800
Is anyone else running anything similar and doing ok as far as towing? Im on the fence about selling the truck and upgrading.

i dont know anything about the 2013 model of TT, but it looks like its 34 feet long and has a GVRW of somewhere around 11,000 lbs.
the 2.7 ecoboost has similar engine specs to a 5.4 3v Triton. for me, this would be a case of the tail wagging the dog. I think that once loaded up for camping you will be over your max tongue weight and WAY over your trucks tow rating. for me, this is Super Duty territory or a VERY well equipped F150.

Too little truck for too much trailer. I'd be looking at a 3/4 ton truck to pull that trailer.

x2 and I own a 3.5 Ecoboost F150.
And the loaded tongue weight may be exceeding the hitch receiver's max.

With the 3.5l Ecoboost you would be wary of a UVW of 6500-6800#s? I was more concerned with my payload, not the hitch weight from tongue weight.

My guess is that you'll be shocked. Make sure it's loaded as if you are camping.

No where near enough truck…..sorry. Especially if that TT is what I suspect in size. Camping/RV’ing for many requires buying all around. What I mean by that is whatever RV you’re looking at, a tow vehicle usually needs to be purchased too. We bought a modest sized TT and off to the dealer to buy a Super Duty. Most families just don’t have work trucks for having……they are usually job related.
Right now with the landscape as it is, well, good luck finding a SD or HD without breaking the bank.

I just looked it up….the dry weight alone is almost 7200 lbs. and it will never be that once you put in it what will stay. Payload comes into play just as much. Add up who all and what all will be in your truck when hooked up then you have to include that weight also in the variable of tongue weight. It gets crazy for sure. Best to have way more truck than you really need.

Don't do it. You'll wreck your transmission and burn up your motor. Maybe not right away, but in either event you will need a different truck or a much lighter weight trailer.

This trailer is several thousand pounds too heavy for the truck. You'll be lucky to keep the trailer weight under GVWR -- about 10,000 pounds.
Ford Towing Guide is the place to start.

For F150s, in general, 7,000# seems to be the optimum high towing weight, unless specifically optioned for higher.
While some can travel lightweight, many carry at or near the TT GVWR. So I recommend using the TT GVWR when considering purchases.
Concur with the many replies, too much trailer for your truck.
Recommend joining the F150 Forum, and reviewing the various 2.7EB towing threads.

Thank you. Have my eyes on a 12 SD for 38K with 74K on it. Might jump now.
