Gas, diesel, what engine size, trailer package, 2x4, 4x4, service records, damage history, how many owners? Just a few more details would help

I would stay away from a 2004 with the 6.0 diesel. There are a lot of documented problems with that engine. It wasn't until the 2006 model year that changes were made to the engine that made it more reliable.

The main problem with that engine was the EGR carbon deposit issue. Other problems were the the unreliable variable-vane turbocharger solenoid, defective Exhaust Back Pressure (EBP) sensor/connector, numerous PCM (Powetrain Control Module) recalibrations, fuel injector harness chafing/crushing and other driveability and QC issues.

Checkout this magazine: November, 2010 issue of Diesel Power

The article is on line at: Diesel Truck Buyer's Guide - Diesel Power Magazine

This is a good summary of the good and bad for GM, Ford and Dodge. I used this to narrow my search to a 2005 or 2006 GM. If a diesel has been properly taken care of 125k is not that much in terms of miles.

If your looking for a tow vehicle, we still have our 2005 GMC 2500 4 x 4 crew cab for sale. i don't know if its still in the for sale area. It's loaded with the durmax engine. And it only has 31000 miles on it. We towed a Montana 5th wheel for two years before we bought the motor home. We added electric brakes, air bags in the rear, a 45 gal tank, and is still under an extended warranty. It has been garage kept and everything is orriginal on it

Good Choice - I also own a Dodge - not a diesel but I can tell you as long as it is well taken care of it will give you many years of service.
Besides you will see alot of stickers that say "Would Rather be cummin then strokin"
