2017 Acadia Toad (not Limited)
We are having the tow equipment set up on our new car today. We know we need to pop off the shifter boot to release the shifter (and that adding a grommet makes it easier). Unfortunately, I am not sure exactly what that means and don't want to mess with my new car. Most of the dealership people are not real familiar with these processes either so i am hoping someone help me with this info.
1) exactly how do you pop off the shifter boot w/o damaging any of the trim?
2) exactly how do you release the shifter? (Once I know that, will it be obvious how to re-engage it?)
3) best I can tell, the grommet is installed in the shifter boot (pleather) so you can stick something through it to release (and apparently re-engage) the shifter easily without popping off the shifter boot each time. Is this correct? And is there an obvious place to take the car to have someone do this for you if you don't want to tackle it yourself?
Thanks in advance for the help.
