Maybe not a park model

It might be a "Destination Trailer." We have a Cherokee 38P which is a Destination Trailer. It has a 12v system and lighting like other trailers and 5ers. It is expected that the owner will move a destination trailer, although not very often. It doesn't require a special tow vehicle.

That said, we don't even own a vehicle capable of moving ours and wouldn't try. We bought it on a site, and if we ever sell it, it will be sold from/with that site.

Now that you've mentioned it, I should look at the sticker, just to see its weight specs.

Out on the road

I’m out on the road and most folks have good safe TV/TT combos on the road, but I have seen a few that had me get out of the way fast. Most all of these are half ton trucks overloaded.

However, I did see a guy trying to tow a boat with a Honda Pilot in a monsoon rain storm in Florida. I think he must have hydro planed into a ditch since his front wheel drive front wheels kept popping up off the road and there was so much side to side wobble.

I was in topsail hill beach state campground and the guy next to me from Georgia had a 30ft (34 overall) TT fairly new, and I commented on his nice flat bed one ton Chevy TV. He said, yeah, I tried to tow this with my F150, but was all over the road - it just couldn’t handle it and was real dangerous. TT Salesman said I could tow with it and I believed him.

My two cents is coworker will destroy the suspension, brakes, transmission or engine attempting to tow this 39 ft trailer (or all of it) or crash.

Well I sent a text today letting him know offer still stood, letting him know I thought he would be pushing limits of his truck.

I haven't been towing for that long but that scares me. As it was said before, I hope he rethinks this before he gets too far.

I have seen some crazy setups on the road. Not as bad as the OP is describing but some that have made me cringe. And yet I am always a bit nervous with my combo. With my luck I will have some type of severe failure yet the text book of what not to do guy goes along blindly and nothing ever happens to him. I take all the precautions, follow the rules, check my weights and yet disaster strikes.

Here's a link to a 6-inch drop Class III hitch at Harbor Freight: $24.99

How about an adjustable hitch that extends down to 8 inches? Same place, $26.99

Harbor Freight has started carrying a bunch of hitches and receivers that they didn't formerly offer. One cute product is a hitch doubler they call a Dual Hitch Extender. It extends the receiver about 12" straight-through and has a second receiver about 5" above the first. Some reviewers say this is a great way to carry a basket of cargo and pull the trailer. To me it looks a solution to the perennial question "How do I carry my bikes when pulling the trailer?"

You aren't supposed to use a WDH, with any kind of extender. Especially one like this one.

Apparently you didn't look close enough at the picture I posted because it is turned straight down at the ground. LMAO

Yeah I wondered about that about an hour after I posted. It would give the WDH a lot more leverage on the TV and might even break the receiver off.

Thanks for reminding me.

Right! I was thinking this was the other current thread about 3/4 tons and 1 tons being so much higher that the trailers aren't level. I intended it to go there. Of course it won't help the 5ers.

Looks like an old 10x70 doublewide, would you say?
