The Anderson 3200 includes the ball funnel also.

What exactly was reinforced?
Why so high on the AUH ball mount? Clearance?
Have you considered getting the red cone adapter ... it makes a world of difference.

They welded 8 additional gussets under the nose to bring frame flex from 1/4" to 1/8"
The ball is high because of a issue with a tight turn and a pot hole that damaged my drivers side bed rail.
I considered the red cone until I discovered it's made out of plastic. My hitch was before they offered that cone.

I got a question first. Do you have pucks? Gooseneck? Rails?
These all matter and I didn’t see you say.
I will get bit for this...if I am buying one....I get the steel version of the Andersen...especially if you have 13-14-15k or better unit.
I vote for slide or an equivalent. I use my old POC all the time.
Good luck with your choice.

The cone is made out of umhw which is some really tough stuff. Mine has 3 years of abuse without signs of abuse.

I don’t believe it is possible to get the steel Anderson gooseneck version any more.

Another Alternate
I have a sidewinder on my Ram 3500 SWB and I’ve never had an issue. I can go past 90 degrees if necessary. Mine is a 20k capacity to pull my 2017 Cedar Creek Hathaway CK362. It pivots at the top instead of at the king pin which moves the pivot point back 22”, but leaves the weight over the axel. My truck also has Ram Boxes, so the bed is narrower, but because it pivots above the bed rail, it’s not a problem.
Just food for thought. I love my set up.

Just read your question,we are pulling a new Columbus 384rd 42 ft,with a 2014 super duty King ranch.at the dealer we had a fairly hot discussion on what hitch in need,we have the 6.6 bed.we we made a bet .to Back the trk under the trailer if it at any point it touched they bought the hitch. It did an they bought me the Demco hijacker 18000 autoslide.this hitch an the Demco people are FANTASTIC .we have been in several places where we had to jacknife an no problems . Very little chucking when set correctly.

I got a Goosebox installed on my Silverback 38Ft that is approved by Lippert and I have a 3" offset B&W ball. I have a standard 6ft box. I got a couple of dings on the cab when I didn't have the 3"offset, but only when I had to maneouver at an almost 90 degree angle.
Now gthat I have the 3" offset, I haven't had any issue. I don't know if I would feel comfortable with a 5" offset though. The Goosebox is the best investment I ever did. Now all I have to do when I'm not pulling is take the ball out and flip the original ball and I have a flat bed. No need to lift a big heavy hitch.

I have owned three fivers in the past 10 years. Currently 2018 Cardinal 3825 FL and I have always had a long bed pickup to pull them. I feel that they tow better then short beds.

You should start a thread titled 'fifth wheel hitch and long bed' then......

5th wheel front corners sculpted?
As swampdoggy said, if your 5th wheel camper is new enough ( most 2012 and newer) then the front corners are probably trimmed or rounded off so that there is a much lesser chance of them hitting your short bed truck cab. 2012 is when many manufacterers acknowledged the fact that many people want to use a shortbed truck to pull their 5th wheels and thats about the time those changes started showing up.

Hitch installed
Thanks all for your help and comments. Been a FROG member for a while, but first time I've interacted. Got the Commander non-slide installed in my F350 short bed and pulled for the first time today. Everything worked out fine as far as clearance with the cab. Thanks again to all.
