5th wheel hitch and short bed

I just bought a 2016 F350 short bed, and I pull a Cedar Creek 38CK. I had an 01 F250 with a slider hitch but never needed to use the slide option. Looking at the B&W Companion with goose neck, no slider. Has anyone had any clearance issues with this setup ?

I used the Andersen Ultimate steel version with my F350 short bed. Towing 2008 Cardinal and 2018 Cardinal. Never had a problem. The only reason I changed is my new truck has the puck system.

The instant you don't think you'll need a slider is when you'll wish you still had one!

I would add a caution though. LCI does not like Andersen and will label the hitch as an "adapter" and try to tell you that it will cause damage to the frame. They can't prove that it does but they like to make that claim. Because they label it an "adapter" they claim it voids the frame warranty. Forest River still made them reinforce my frame under warranty.

I have never ever heard this or seen any issues with the Anderson ultimate...,warranty or otherwise.

Same here.

I have a 5” offset ball and the king pin adapter pointed to the rear of camper. On my 2017 CR Volante I needed this to make full 90 degrees.

With my 2019 Wolfpack 325 I’m going to try and go back to the normal gooseneck position inorder to move some of the higher pin weight back on the front axel. I believe that I still can turn full 90 in that setup and help the suspension out a bit.

Im pulling my Chappy with a 6.75 ft bed and a B&W patriot. I can't go a full 90⁰ but I can go 82⁰. During my research when I was searching for a hitch i talked to probably 10 people with sliders and everyone did they never used it. If your 5er has the corners of the cap angled then I'd say you wouldn't need to get a slider.

I was at the Goshen Rally Aug.2018 and LCI and BAL both addressed some issues on my 2016 Wildcat. The LCI issue had to do with the suspension leafs and the BAL issue was related to some fasteners on the drop frame. They took care of everything they found and didn't once mention any issues with my Andersen Ultimate.

By the way, I've had the Andersen Ultimate on the Wildcat since it was new in 2015. About a year into our ownership Forest River decided they needed to upgrade my pinbox and they replaced the original one with a Mor-Ryde Rubber Pin Box version. I checked with Andersen to make sure that the Ultimate is ok to pair with the RPB and their response was that according to reports they get back from users that have the Ulitimate paired with an RPB, it is the best towing combination and one they recommend. I can now concur. My Ultimate was a very good towing experience before but I can absolutely say it got even better with the new Mor-Ryde RPB.

Mine are rounded corners so I think the Anderson will work. You can get pretty good angles with it also.

Nice!

Looks no different than mine except I have the steel version.

What exactly was reinforced?

Why so high on the AUH ball mount? Clearance?

Have you considered getting the red cone adapter ... it makes a world of difference.

The one I'm looking at is made of steel. Rated at 20,000 lbs GTWR, 4,500 lbs tongue weight.

You'd have to look up the info you asked I don't know at the moment. Red cone adapter I'll look that up. Thanks!

If you mean the red adapter with the pull lever that hitches to the ball it's included.
