Especially on vehicles, if you do it, make sure you know EXACTLY what it's going to cover and how much it's going to cost. I've seen lots of stories about people buying these for pretty big bucks, then finding out they don't cover major stuff.
That being said, some people just "feel better" having an extended warranty - and it's hard to put a price on that; if that's you, go for it.

What he said...
I had an 11 Ecoboost and traded it in 2013 because some of them were showing up with timing chain and vacuum boost issues.
brakes were crap on the truck as well.
the 13 was traded in 16 Sept for a 16 Ecoboost because even the 13's had the same issues. It had 65 thousand kms or 40389 miles on it at time of trade.
The 13 had teh brakes literally disappear in less than 60,000 kms and the dealership wanted to under my maintenance agreement change the rotors out one day and the pads 2 days later because they said they couldn't bill out the costs to Ford on the same invoice. the second dealership did it and never batted an eye.
Both of those trucks we put the maintenance plan on for almost 2 grand.
that covered brakes, if outside the 3 year bumper to bumper warranty, oil changes, tire rotations, air filters (which were never changed because i had a cold air intake system on it), and wiper blades.
the 13 Ecoboost hauled the 5th wheel as will the 16. it will also haul the newest addition to the family - the 29 foot Toy Hauler.
pretty expensive wiper blades and 8 oil changes.
I made 5 grand on the value of my 13 Ecoboost truck trading it for a 3 year newer vehicle.
