I have tongue lock on mine but I also keep the stab jacks down and disable all power to the rig with a hidden switch. It may not stop them but it will slow them down enough for me and the dogs to get to them. They better hope I get to them before the dogs. Not likely though.

Give me a little 4 1/2" battery powered grinder and I'll have your lock in a very few minutes, your trailer too if I wanted it.

I use a high grade pad lock and a master lock ball lock.

I t also sits on a hill backed next to the driveway. So I lower the tongue as far as I can and turn off my disconnect which is locked inside.

It is nearly impossible to get out with my Nieghbor parking his work van where he does. And lately we have had several trucks stolen in the nieghbor hood ( older diesel) I run a 1/2” cable through the wheels and padlock it.

If they can get through all that so be it. I can only slow them down.

I know it can be defeated by I have an electric tongue jack and have a battery cutout switch inside the camper. Just need to find a solution to impede the access to the manual lifting operation of the jack.

Locks don’t STOP anyone. They motivate the opportunistic thief to look elsewhere. Therefore, they are a small investment with potentially huge return.

If you get nothing else from this thread, get that.

I appreciate all the responses to this thread. Thank You. It seems that preventing the theft of an TT is like preventing the theft of anything else: You can keep an honest person out, deter a prowler, slow down a robber, and have good insurance to protect against a determined thief.

It's all about risk mitigation...not risk elimination. That's why I purchased a Proven Industries hitch lock which mitigates risk as well or better than any other hitch lock I've seen.

If you want risk elimination, you'll have to sell your trailer...

Most electric jacks can be operated with a manual crank. So where your battery cutoff is located is immaterial. Also, some electric jacks are powered directly from the battery.

Again it’s about slowing them down. You can’t stop them.

So, locks are somewhat useless, but all I know is that I still don't have an address to find this thing.

Guessing you really didn't read my post, but if the thief is prepared enough and has the tools to operate my jack manually, there isn't much else I can do.

We have removed all items of value for storing our camper at a fenced in out door storage facility (for $15/month I cannot complain), and I am temped to simply put a sign on the door that says all items of value have been removed from the camper.

I did read your post, but probably not as well as I should have. Your use of "by" instead of "but" may have thrown me.
