Short bed Maxi Works

Purchased the 2500 Maxi Cab short bed 6.4 Hemi and could not be more pleased pullin the 5r. Opted for a slider hitch but found out the Arctic Wolf came with a hitch that solves Short bed Agony. So now I have 2 ways to go but love the extra rear seat area for the Wife napping and the 100 lb Lab...

Nice looking rig, is that the 265?

A SB 3500 would be ideal.
Hate to say it, but unless they've changed the Megacabs since 2006, you might be disappointed in the lengths of the truck.... My Mega measures in at 21'7" bumper to bumper. My brother has a quad cab long box and his truck is the same length.... Either way, put a 5th wheel behind anything other than a regular cab and it's gonna be long. But you already know that

Yep it is the 265dbh and added the second low profile unit in the bedroom--COLD SLEEPING Fixed pretty much everything that the factory missed and so far as I said the Hemi pulls this beast just fine.

Best Addition

I forgot to add that we boondock and go to off road areas pulling our SXS on an Idaho Tote behind us. Added the front winch and helped many RV friends get out of Jams at different locations

I have a 2016 F-250 with a 6 3/4 bed and a Blue Ox slider but have never used the slider. Can turn really tight corners with no problem.

That's basically why I was looking at the Mega cab as I have a teenager and a medium sized pooch(besides the wife), so the more room the better especially for the teen.

Could be misery loves company. I'm a B&W fan and have a B&W Patriot Slider. Only used the slider once and really needed it. I like the US made product made with US steel.

Small Campgrounds are the primary reason I will not consider using a long bed TV.

Yeah, but he calls himself "LI Guy." That's probably Long Island Guy and he's thinking about parking the truck in New York.

We have 2006 3500 megacab. 14000 # trailer. Hitch works great it is the extra confidence when DW wants a quick maneuver or we end up in a tight spot. Don't have to wory about hitting the cab or getting out to loosen manual slide. Plus the have great customer service.

Guess I mislead you. I'm just going CC SB, so about 1'6" shorter than my CC LB.

Anyone tow with a Megacab regular bed 5th wheel

I may be wrong but in the MegaCab they only offer the 6’4” bed. I’ve never seen a 8’ “long bed” MegaCab...

Get a auto slide. It’s always there if needed and takes away any guesses on if you need to slide a hitch manually.

Good luck

I have a 2007 Dodge, 4 full size doors, and the standard (medium) size bed. I dented my cab corner, to the tune of $2900 damage because I didn't slide my 5th wheel hitch when I made a u-turn on a 5 lane road to get to the tire store.
My advice would be to get the slider, and use it properly.

I have had a 2006 mega cab and now a 2016 mega cab both 3500 SRW. I pull a 42 foot sierra with the rounded front cap. I had a slider hitch in the 06 but never used the slider. I have the B&W companion that drops in the factory puck system in the 16 and have never had any problems. The 06 mega was the same length as a quad cab long bed but the newer CC long beds are about 12" longer than the mega cab. You will be plenty happy with the mega cab the only advise i'll give is make sure it's a 3500 as the payload on the 2500 mega is less than 2000 pounds on the diesel trucks and close to 4000 or more on the 3500.

I see no problems with Andersen who is also an American company who used engineering in design to accomplish the same as steel just 150+lbs. less.. Newer 5er's are being designed with curved noses to accommodate short bed trucks...

it's a 3500 with air suspension with a payload over 4000 lbs.
