B&W Question

Got what I think is lucky and found a 20k B&W Companion for my ford puck system used for $300 today. Installed easily and went to open the jaws with the lever and the jaws didn't move. The lever moved freely, was able to use a pry bar with little force to open them. Back into my king pin and they closed and locked. Pulled the lever and they released just fine. Think it needs lubricated or something? They also had what looked like a little bearing grease on the two pads under the head is this a normal grease point? Thanks all

The jaws not moving back would concern me a bit, perhaps some dirt is caught in there. Call B&W, they are really good with support.
The B&W is in two pieces. When you pull the two saddle locking pins out, you can lift the saddle off, by the two handles. There is a zerk fitting underneath. You should use a grease gun on that. Check out the youtube on maintenance.

My jaws didn’t always open on their own. As long as the handle was in the proper position, a little pressure with the kingpin and the hitch always worked well.
