Bed Step

Anyone use a step on the bottom of their dually fender to access the hitch? I've been looking at the on that hangs on the tire. Really like the one from AMP that folds up on the bottom of the fender, but way expensive. Anyone use anything?

I don't have a dually (yet) but I routinely use the rear tire as a step to enter the bed from the side.

I've used one such as this (not this brand, I picked mine up from Tractor Supply):
http://www.amazon.com/Heininger-4040.../dp/B0002Z9KE0

It works well. Except I found it quicker to just step up onto the tire vs. getting the step out, putting it on, stepping up, putting it away. Though, lately- I have found me wishing I still had it with me.

Thanks for the tip ependy. Was still wondering if it was to far back.I think I'll set a 5 gal bucket up in the garage and try it and see.I'm not vertically challenged,it's hard to unlatch the pin keeper and then pull the handle.

I'm tall enough and long armed so I don't need it, But northern tool has one that goes over the tire that's fairly inexpensive

Yes, I have two AMP BED steps one at the rear bumper and the other behind the driver side cab at the front corner of the bed. I use them all of the time not just for the trailer but for general access to the bed.

I have the AMP on the rear bumper, excellent investment. Easy to install, but I had to grind down a 21MM socket in order to fit in the step mount.

We have AMP side and rear. The one on the side doesn't help much for the hitch but helps with the tool box. Do like the one on the rear for getting in truck bed. We use a plastic folding 2 step stool to reach the hitch. We're vertically challenged so the stool comes in handy for many things. Yes, they're a tad $$$. But, we do use them.
