BFG All Terrain KO2's....noisy as heck!!

I posted this on another forum but was hoping to get some more feedback here hopefully from a different audience.

So I bought my 2015 Silverado used about 2 months ago. It had a newer set of BFG All-Terrain KO2 LT265/65 R18 on it which is load range E which is perfect for towing our camper.

When I test drove it I noticed the tires were kinda loud. But since I have significant hearing loss and wear aids in both ears I didn't think it would bother me much. Well it's getting on my nerves as well as anyone that rides with me. So for the heck of it I downloaded the decibel app today. Sure enough, I hit 35mph and I'm at 87-91 decibels. At idle I'm at 55 decibel. It stays steady at 87-91 regardless of my speed over 35. They quiet down a bit if I'm making a sweeping curve on the freeway, but otherwise they're loud.

I run at 45psi when not towing and 65 in the rears when towing.

Curious if anyone else is experiencing this with a similar setup?

Hate to pull nearly new tires, but I think the money would be well spent.

Thanks for the info, I'm in the market for new tires and will pass on them.

If you unload the tires, you should not have a problem selling them on craigslist.

My 2008 Silverado 2500hd had them on there when I bought it a couple of weeks ago and I just swapped them out for some Firestones and the ride is a lot quieter and not as rough. I will be putting my old tires on craigslist here in a few days.

I have had mine for 25k miles now and love them and dont hear any noise. I think it might be the size as I run 285s. A friend of mine brought the 265s to stay with original size and he says his are louder than mine. I run 75lbs when towing and 55lbs in the winter. I feel the wider tire would ne louder but i guess not if you and my buddy both have this issue.

All Terrain tires ? That is the nature of the beast with them, especially if they are deep lug. Some make more noise than others, but I haven't seen a set of AT's that didn't make noise on a hwy.

I called my local discount tire and told them what was going on.

They actually suggested i stop in and have them inspected to make sure it's not something wrong with them before i start throwing money at new ones. He said they should not be that loud.

Hub bearings sometimes sound like a tire howling when they start to go. I had them once upon a time, they are louder than a H/T but I don't recall it being obnoxious.

I put em on my FJ cruiser and love them. I don't think they're noisy for an AT tire. Plus, they're wearing great and provide decent traction in snow, mud, ice, gravel and dirt. Haven't tried them in sand yet.

I have them on my new Jeep Wrangler, which is a louder vehicle to begin with, and I don't think they are too loud. They are going to be louder than a regular street tire but so far they are not unreasonable.

Yeah, i used to run them on various CJ's, YJ's, TJ's and JK's i've had over the years without any issues. Only thing different is the type of hearing aids i had then...so i don't know if they were just quieter or if my hearing is better now with the newer aids.

Guess i'll head over to Discount Tire and see what they have to say.

I have them on my Ranger and they are very quiet. I have no complaints about them at all.

Well, im at Discount Tire and all 4 have bad cupping on the inner tread every other lug. They're going to balance and cross rotate them and see if it makes it any better. If not, I guess I'll be buying new rubbers.

I have had mine for over a year and have about 30k miles. Not very noisy (they have a hum) and they are wearing great. They get rotated every 5,000 miles.

My F-250 came with Michelin LTX A/T 2 tires but when they're worn out I'll be going back Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo2. Fairly quiet and good in the snow.

My DW says if you cannot hear the tires you have the wrong ones on your 4X4. She has Nitto Terra Grapplers on her truck.

We have BFG All-Terrain KO2 LT265/70 R17's which I installed on our FJ Cruiser before we left for our summer trip. Ran from FL to UT (6000+ miles). I was concerned that if they were noisy we had a bunch of miles to put up with it.
Tire noise is subjective, but the wife and I did not find them any louder than the original Goodyears.

I have BFG KO2's on my Hummer H2. They ride smoothe and quiet. I only have 35psi in them, 40psi when I load it up.
I used to have a Ram 1500. Tire pressure according to the Dodge decal was 75psi. I reduced it to 35psi and the ride was much easier, quieter and I didn't notice any excess tire wear. I would increase to 45psi when towing our 6000lb TT. I had the truck for 10years.

Like i said, the noise wasn't subjective as i actually measured them at 91 decibels.

To put that level in perspective, according to OSHA, anything over 85 decibels for 8hrs or more requires hearing protection.

Anyway, here are some photos of what's going on with my tires.
Every other lug on the innermost row is worn down. It baffles me to understand how it can so perfectly wear down exactly every other lug.

They said nothing can fix cupping. I need to do some research to confirm that before i scrap 4 tires with well over half the tread left.

Your next stop should be an alignment shop. You may have a loose tie-rod end or bad ball joint. Those tires are a mild tread and should wear even if the vehicle geometry is in spec.
I didn't notice the year or miles of your truck, but GM had issues for years with clunky tie rods and idler arms failing. Have it checked out.
