Make sure to load up that trailer with food, cookware, bedding, clothes, leveling gear, tools, hardware, and everything else you take camping. Otherwise, that measurement won't tell you anything useful.
Unfortunately, the math above is the story and it's not going to change in any significant way. There's no way around it, other than to shrug and plow forward with an overloaded vehicle ... which many people do.

When I was towing a 6,200 lbs 27' TT with my Tundra, I could get the hitch weight to vary from 400 lbs to over 1,000 lbs just by moving stuff around. I can do the same with a 2109S. I have no doubt I can get this trailer hooked up within the weight limits of the X3. I have my doubts as to whether or not I would want to pull it that way.

Hitch weight is right @ 350 lbs. This is with 2 empty 30# propane tanks, no batteries, and the front storage compartment had all the accessories (table, outside grill and electrical cable).
Dry weight of this camper is 4,158 lbs. I didn't take it off the lot, but did hook it up to take some measurements.
With 350 lbs hitch weight, my front end rose 1/4" and my back end dropped 1" (I measure from the bottom of the wheel well arch to the top of the wheel rim). This all indicates to me that I can manage the weight. I know we will add stuff to the trailer that changes all of these weights, but I can certainly keep the trailer below 4,600 and the hitch weight below 552 lbs (12%).

Well, I guess we will never know if the X3 could tow the 2109S or not. I got scared and bought a 2015 2500HD today. That should do the trick.

That should do several tricks! Congrats on the new rig. Hope you enjoy it and your new camper. Will be a blast, for sure.

I'd rather have too much truck than too much trailer. You made a smart move. Congratulations.
