Brake controller for 2018 Legacy 38C

Looking to install a proportional brake controller to pull a Tow Master dolly with Electric bakes, Try to get info from FR, they dont know what they design into their own coaches and sent me a picture of the connector under the dash and suggested calling Freightliner and no luck there either.
I see some posting installing a Tekonsha on a Ford with some special harness.
Any recommendation on what I need is appreciated?

1 Solution

I found the info I was looking for, I hope it can help someone.

In all my research the best unit today to buy is a Tekonsha, some say a P2 and some say a P3 where the P3 is a bit more sophisticated with a few more options.

The above wire harness is a plug and play on my Legacy 38C 2018.

I installed it on the left of steering to be of easy reach to manually activate the brakes if needed.

My previous post has the info, but here it is again:

Go to the link, buy the adapter, install the device as I showed in the picture, find the connector under the dash and plug the thing in.

That is it. just read the book to calibrate and configure the controller.
hookup the toad, plug it in, go driving..

The plug has a cover connected to it.
I found mine near the steering shaft, it may be hidden behind something else.
It could also be taped with another part of the harness.

Look for a 1 inch harness cover on the right side of the steering frame, coming from the top.
It is long enough that you can actually pull it out from under the dash, it may be down behind the backboard,I found it just loose in there, it is black and some blue protection cover you need to pull out to connect the cable from the controller, I ran mine under the steering mount to the left side so it would connect easier and coiled it all up securing it all with a tie strap with some other harnesses under there.
