Can my 2018 Jeep JK unlimited Sahara tow an rpod?

I'm looking to purchase an 2016 rpod 179. Dry weight is 2781 lbs.
My Jeep is a v6 3.6lt but the axle is a Dana 44 3.21 gear ratio.it came with the tow package from the dealer. From what I've been reading its rated to tow only 2000lbs. I've called the RV dealerships and they say it would do it no problem especially with a hitch weight distribution kit..and the rpod is pretty aerodynamic. the person that owns it now tows it with a 2012 Chevy Equinox.
Looking for Any advice or suggestions

Thanks

Exclamation

Some dealers will tell you that you can tow a 12,000 pound trailer with a 1989 Yugo in order to make the sale. With far too many sales people, you can tell they're lying if their lips are moving.

The base weight of that trailer EMPTY is 2,649 pounds, and it lists a carrying capacity of another 1,136 pounds. That far exceeds the 2,000 pounds you said the Jeep is capable of.

Plus the fictional dry tongue weight already exceeds the Jeep's max hitch weight.

I looked it up says 2000lbs with a 3.21 axle
The number on my axle is 42960-01 . Not sure if that just means it's a Dana 44

Well I will revert to you know your truck better than me. Not trying to be rude. I looked again and found both the 3500 and 2000. I am surprised that the 6 speed manual trans is rated higher. They must have been better at shifting going up hill. I think your soft suspension hurts your tongue weight as well. That said you probably have the power but given everything I see. I donít think I would tow with it.

I know they are different, but I had a Liberty of near the same vintage with same engine, It was OK towing my 5x8 v nose box trailer with a motorcycle in it (less front end than what your looking at) as long as you locked out OD and drove it easy.

But once I tried to help move someone with this little trailer and it did overheat. not something I would recommend.

GVW vs cargo weight

I am sure that your question has been answered appropriately, but I wanted to add what I learned when researching a new truck. I have been towing various sized trailers for years and the comment that the RV dealer will tell you your vehicle can tow their trailer is correct. The dealer may unknowingly put you at risk for a crash. Here's my recent experience: I have owned Toyotas for the past two decades. I love their reliability. I still own a 4runner and love it. My wife drove a 2014 Tundra and we pulled a 2020 Mini Lite 2205S with it. The GVW of the trailer, loaded was somewhere in the 6-6,500 range. The Tundra could tow 9K. We were looking to replace the Tundra with the new generation, especially looking at the new hybrid engine. The tow capacity of the Tundra could easily pull our trailer, but the hitch weight, cargo, gear, dogs, passengers in the Tundra exceeded the cargo capacity of the truck, by a significant number. We ended up buying a 3/4 ton truck for the increased cargo carrying capacity. We now have a rig that tows well and is safer.

It has to have the 3.73 differential to tow the 3500, I believe.

I personally would not tow any travel trailer with a Wrangler, but that's just me.

Can you tow it yes will you like it no.The jeeps you see in campgrounds usually pull a pop up or teardrop.A lot of it amounts to lightweight short vehicles pulling and stopping the longer trailer. Also see if there is a frontal area guideline in the manual. You are pulling a wind sail behind the vehicle, not so bad maybe with an r-pod but wind and head wind will kill that combo on long trips. If you are always short hopping it you can get by with a lot of things.I wouldnít like a long trip with that, hard on the Jeep and driver. Most people won,t tell you to get a smaller camper or bigger truck.

I think your right my original screen shot showed a 3:21 but another shows you need the 3:73.

I was amazed that you would probably be over payload with 4 grown men and a cooler of ice

Any JK or JK Unlimited with a 3.6L engine and 3.21 axle is limited to 2000 lbs max tow weight. Period. End of discussion. Any JK Unlimited with 3.73 or 4.10 gearing has a max tow capacity of 3500 lbs. It gets a little tricky with the JK that has 3.73 or 4.10 gearing. 2012 - 2015 were limited to 2000 lbs, but 2016 - 2018 could tow 3500 lbs.

For non-Jeepers:

JK = 2 door
JK Unlimited = 4 door
JK series with the 3.6L engine was produced from 2012 to 2018
