Can my truck handle either of these FWs ?

This will be our first fifth wheel. We're looking at (first choice) cedar creek 33IK GVWR 14,067, hitch weight 2,067, length 36'11".Or the 29IK GVWR 13,985,hitch weight 1,985 length 33'11". My truck is a 2017 F250 FX4 6.2 gas engine, 16,000 lbs.tow cap. 8' bed, 430 gears, camper/snowplow pkg. payload 3,195. Just me and the wife and I am leaning towards the Anderson ultimate fifth wheel hitch.what do you think? yeah or nay? Also, do you think I'll need airbags? With the camper pkg, I have an additional spring in the back and a sway bar. Thanks, all info, and opinions will be helpful.

Your numbers should add up assuming 20% of the trailer GVWR as pinweight, but I personally would prefer a 350/3500 diesel because of the extra exhaust braking which would be a tough call given your truck is a 2017.

The hitch weights you are using are the marketing ( unloaded) numbers, Your hitch weight will be approx 20% of the max gross trailer weight. Between pin weight and frontal area, I suspect you need more truck.

How does anyone know if someone's going to load up to the GVWR of the trailer? What if the trailer has 4000-5000 lbs for CCC? Don't most owners that aren't full timers load about 1,000-1500 lbs in their RV's?
If it were me I'd look at the UVW on the shipping sticker and add 1500 lbs to be safe. Then figure another 500 lbs added to the sticker pin weight for the pin weight.

the UVW is 10,880 on the 33IKS
10,705 on the 29IKS

Since you already have the truck, it’s a hard choice. Try what you have now on a few trips. A lot of people now are going with a F-350 gasser because of problems with def.

It’s hard to justify a diesel unless you camp a lot. I see a lot of people pulling the camper you have with a 3/4 ton and besides it’s a Ford

No, I'm sorry. I was just commenting that the comment there are "lots" of folks deleting their DEF, and saying it is really maybe 2 or 3 people. It's hyperbole either way.

I know folks pulling trailers like yours with a 3/4 ton, but they are diesels. It depends on where you pull it. Hills will be an issue for gasser.

I would say you will be fine with your current setup. You’ve got good payload and towing capacity and that 6.2 gas engine develops more horsepower than the 6.0 liter powerstroke diesel. It also has decent torque. Just remember gas engines require higher RPM’s to develop maximum horsepower and torque.

Where you live you'll get by fine I could never get used to it out here in the Northwest. Every where we go it's up.
Both are about the same weight so IMO just pick your fav.

I don't know if I should have started a new thread or not but since all my info is already here I was also wondering if there is anyone towing with the same setup or similar numbers that could let me know how it is for them and if there is any info or suggestions they would be willing to share . dealer says ill be fine but we all know how that goes just don't want to get into something that is not right and have to get out of. Big investment for us just don't want to be sorry.thanks for reading.

Look I think you are more than covered yes your cargo will add some pin weight but packed properly not all will carried by the truck you will hear you need a diesel I own a diesel because that’s what I wanted and it was less than the gas I owned a Tundra and with your gearing hills shouldn’t be a problem I passed many of diesels going up the Rockies cascades and Sierra used my tow haul mode it helped with the braking going down hill and yes I just read to make sure I wasn’t dreaming it also my 2016 350 diesel has 200 pounds more payload than yours.

See sig below. I tow a tad bit heavier than the 33IK, and with a V-10, but I think you'll be happy with your setup especially with the 4.30's. That is unless you don't like to hear the gasser roar up a hill. I actually enjoy it. Some people are scared of it and go diesel. I installed the Airlift 5000's and they really absorb the bumps well. Didn't really need it that much for leveling and I suspect that you won't either, but you will like the better ride.

If you stay reasonably close to home.............and no big 'Out West' trips......you should be fine. For sure, I'd not change anything, and just go camping. Take enough trips, and you'll figure out what you might need to do long term. But with that setup, I'd not hesitate to head out and camp! It might strain here and there.....but it'll work I think.

Just keep an eye on all gauges and such.

Enjoy the life!!!

Looked at F250 diesel, weight of diesel took 550 lbs. off payload. So, got to look at F350, which only makes sense so I can get a bigger 5r in a couple of years. Besides with the gears you got should pull pretty good.

If it were me I'd look at the UVW on the shipping sticker and add 1500 lbs to be safe. Then figure another 500 lbs added to the sticker pin weight for the pin weight.
It has more to do with safety margins, a basic rule of thumb is to make sure your trailer's GVWR doesn't exceed your TV's tow capacity and that the pin/hitch weight with the trailer at GVWR won't exceed your true payload capacity (Door sticker less people and gear, scale weight less additional people/gear). If you do this then you'll have the best chance of making sure your trailer is paired well to your tow vehicle. It's very easy to underestimate how much "stuff" weighs once it's all loaded up and if you're basing having enough payload/tow capacity on an arbitrary number then it's very easy to end up going over that number without realizing it.

At least by matching up trailer GVWR and recommended hitch weight @ GVWR to what your truck can handle you can be reasonably sure that you won't end up overweight.

I think you have payload covered; especially with the overloads and anti-roll bar. Your rear axle is fine. The 4.30s will make a big difference. Unless you load crazy heavy, you should be below 13K loaded. Don't let the 350/diesel owners scare you out of what you can do.
