Cannot find a 3" Trailer Hitch Lock

I have just bought a New 2016 Ford F-250 Super duty. It is fitted from the factory with 3" receiver hitch that has a 2" insert.

I cannot find a "Locking" trailer hitch receiver lock that will go all the way through a 3" outside to outside receiver. Even etrailer.com does not carry one

Would be grateful for any suggestions !

I think what you need to be looking for is one that is labeled as a 2.5" lock. The hitch is considered a 2.5" even though the outside length is around 3". These locks are pretty much everywhere. Wal-Mart, auto parts stores, etc.

Use a 5/8 gr 8 bolt and drill it for a padlock.

BTW, you will need a carbide bit to drill the gr 8 bolt.

Last year I bought a receiver hitch lock that I paired to my ignition key. Quality lock and I don't have to carry around an extra key. A bit pricey, but well worth the investment. Don't remember her the brand name. Got it online.
