Changing wheel/tire size?

Hi we are looking at a 2006 Ram 2500 it comes with 17" wheels, I am not sure on the size but (google says they are lt265/70r17) they are a cheap off brand we have never heard of. We were planning on swapping them with the almost new 18'" Michelin p265/60r18 that are on his durango now.

Will that make much of a difference in the towing? As it is now this truck will be more than enough for our current trailer, and will still be fine for the one we are looking to purchase.

I've tried looking for answers and all I can find is the tire size matters more than wheel size. Any help is appreciated.

Well let's see here. First off the 2500 will be an 8 hole wheel and the Durango a 5 hole. So that's not going to work real well.

I am no tire expert....

DON'T DO IT

The tires on there are prolly 117 rated and the P's are prolly 10? rated. Not near enough capacity. YMMV

Just save your ~1200.00 and when they wear out get some Michelins
