Christmas is coming early!

So I've been doing some research on the new F150's and after doing a little math, I figured that trading in my current truck for an ecoboost would save me a couple hundred a month (without including the gas). So..... I did it! I will be picking up a 2012 F150 ecoboost with all the trailering goodies and a few bells and whistles that my last truck did not have. I can't wait. It's like opening a big boy present on Xmas morning.

New truck is a CC, 6.5 box, ecoboost, trailer package, back up camera, trailer tow mirrors, remote start, tailgate step and FX4 with leather. Picking it up on the weekend. I will post pics after I pick it up. I'll also keep post any improvements in mileage over the 5.4.

Cool for you!!
Solo mileage is great - IF you can keep your foot out of it... and good luck with that.

Congratulations on the new truck. I just switched from a 5.4 F150 to a 2012 F150 ecoboost this year. Love it. Enjoy your new truck.

I love my new Platinum but rather than "great" - mileage is just "ok" - my 500hp V10 BMW M5 gets better highway mileage than does the truck

it does however get a couple of mpg better than my '06 GMC 5.3 CC SLE when not towing - about the same with trailer

I am a very "un-hot-foot" driver and what I'm saying is - don't expect any unrealistic out of this world mpg increase.....Bill

I'm not expecting to get an astronomical increase but I do expect an increase. Based on all the forums that I visited, I should get better mpg. The real bonus is the extra power! I hear that the eco put the 5.4 to shame.

what the heck kinda mileage were you getting with the m5??? our 2007 was getting like 9mpg city, 4mpg errrrr "merging", and 17mpg hwy TOPS!!?? it had a few dinan tweaks, but nothing drastic??

on the other hand, my near 600hp cobra gets 24mpg highway..not really a comparison in "build quality" between the two tho!!! LOL

but i digress.....

enjoy the new truck..i like those ecoboosts, and im glad that ford finally put something like that on the table.....

I ordered my truck and it was delivered to me on dec 26th!!! good enough christmas for me!!! haha

CONGRATS....pics will be required and expected now...

M5 ('08/SMG) over a 6000+ trip Tx/Ca/Tx was 19+ mpg - another was 2000+ hwy, I got 22mpg (no city driving) - around town here it's 14/15+ mpg (told ya I'm no hot-footer)

so as to NOT hijack the OP's thread.. I'm sure you'll find your new truck to be everything you're expecting it to be.....Bill

out of curiosity, what year was the 5.4??? i had an 03 5.4, and while the mileage was decent for a lifted, 35" tire truck, it no way, no how, not even close came near the power/torque of these new ecoboosts 6 bangers...

i still love the sound of a v8....if my 6.7 sounded like a 5.0 i would be in heaven......LOL...i am greatly begining to appreciate the sound of turbo whistle though.....

My old one was a 2010. I agree I will miss the v8 sound.

Thanks for all the responses. I will post pics as soon as possible.
