Coachmen 17 CBH towing vehicle

Hey all need some advice. I have a Honda Ridgeline AWD 2022 and am looking at the Coachman 17CBH and has a dry weight of 2700 lbs give or take with a hitch weight of 350 dry.
So my question Is the Honda says it’s towing capacity is 5K and cargo 1500. Anybody have ideas on am I safe to tow that. Seems like this may be a good fit and not too big.
Won’t load it too much and trying to keep it near 3200 out the door.
Ridgeline owners welcome to chime in.

Moved thread from the Modifications and Updates section to the Towing and Tow Vehicles sub-forum since the OP's questions have nothing to do with Modifications and Updates.

You need to look at the payload sticker on the driver's door.
"Honda says it’s towing capacity is 5K and cargo 1500."
This statement is a general one and not specific to your particular Ridgeline.
Payload capacity varies between vehicles, depending on trim level and specs. The payload sticker is specific to what the truck weighed when it left the factory.
The 5000lbs towing capacity is only if it has the factory tow package.
But this trailer is better suited than the Rockwood you were previously looking at.

The specs I see for that trailer put the GVWC at 3883, so would expect closer to 500# on the tongue, once loaded.
What does the sticker in the door of your truck state your payload capacity is?
This value minus any gear that was not in the truck when it came off the assembly line, would give you your max tongue weight for your truck. How does that compare to the 500# real world tongue value?

Ok here are the actual numbers. Truck total maximum is 6019. GAWR rear axle 3263. Total payload 1543 minus passenger’s and stuff. So I did weigh the truck with my stuff (tools etc) including full tank of gas and was 4620. Max total combined is 10,031 including truck/trailer. So 6019 (max truck GW) minus 4620 leaves me with 1399 for everything.
Assume 500 hitch weight (specs say up to 600) and me and wife at say 400 (to be safe) equals 900 rolling out the door. That still leaves 200 (to be safe) added cargo or passenger. So if true coachman is say mildly loaded and is 3500 then 3500 plus say 5500 truck total puts my combined at 9k which is 1 k below specs.
So I should be ok and not have a trailer that would be too heavy. Ideas or comments welcome.

Did the weights calc from actual sticker. See my post below and interested in your take.

a kind of apples to oranges comparison but but since cargo limits and trailers are close enough here goes.

Note: Figures with weight distributing hitch attached and properly adjusted. Per CAT Scale and using Actual Tow Weight Calculator. (towingplanner.com)

My tow vehicle 2014 F150. 5.0 V8, 360 HP, 380FP Torque. 6 speed auto tranny. 3.73 axle ratio. GVWR 7350. Cargo Cap 1540. Tow capacity 9200 - ya, right. Truck with myself, wife, full tank of gas and misc stuff in bed - 6380 lbs.

Camper Coachman 17fqc. Comparable to yours, just not a bunkhouse. Dry weight as left factory 2908 lbs. Loaded for camping (fresh water and waste tanks empty) 3660 lbs.

Tongue weight: 540 lbs.

Tows fine for the most part. Struggles on big hills. Using tow mode helps to reduce some of the downshifting. Biggest issue is not weights but drag from frontal area. I see in the Honda owners manual they do not mention a maximum frontal area for a trailer. MY F150 says 60 square feet. Camper just at that limit (7 wide by 9 tall. Specs say 10 but that includes air conditioner. only a couple feet more frontage there).

Hope this helps

Yeah it does. Thanks and the Ridgeline has a decent V6 and know hills will be slow going but not planning on Colorado mountains so should be OK for west coast and some mountains. Plus won’t load the trailer much and planning on 500 lbs hitch load per your comments. Truck has a 600lb max hitch so OK there.
Thanks for the reply.
