Looks like I would use the Reese goosebox when I am ready to get a fifth wheel. The whole setup just looks clean, does not void warranty and leaves the truck bed with more space. I have seen videos of people using the goosebox on a short bed 3/4 with no hitting issues.

You wont regret it. I have a 08 gmc hd2500 with the 6.5 bed. The goosbox has been awesome. We have fit in some very tough spots with room to spare. We also have a silverback that is short bed friendly with the cap notches. Whether we lucked out or planned right we will put one on our next unit.

I am using the PullRite version on a 2019 WolfPack 325 Pack 13 42 ft toy hauler. 2014 F350 6.7 DRW, 8ft box. No load issues, pulls like dream, easy to install and take out. Doesn't take up as much room as the Andersen version. I think either unit would be a wise choice.

I add my vote to switching to the Andersen ultimate

I recently traded my 2005 F-250 power stroke long bed in for a 2016 F-350 Crew cab 6.7L power stroke with 6 3/4 bed. I tow a 37’ long 2013 Crusader 325 RES Touring. I did not want to continue using a standard 65lb. pin box hitch. Like everyone else too much to handle when I didn’t want it in the truck and I always ended up with grease/dirt on me if I got near it. After much research I chose the Andersen ultimate. I found a barely-used one for $500 complete. Installed in 30 minutes and thrilled with it. Remove and store in 10 to 15 minutes and always clean and new looking. I never expected how quiet it is. No squeaks, clanks, or friction screaming. Just dead silence. Best decision ever!

Reese Goosebox is the way to go.

I use the Reese Goosebox gen 2 . We bought our 1st 5th wheel and F450 several months ago and had to get something and after extensive research we chose this set up for about the same price . We love it and have no problem with clearance in the bed of our truck. I would highly recommend this set up for any one.

A standard gooseneck adaptor will beat you to death, the geometry of the pivot point changes so much any bounce literally throws you backwards. There are also concerns about frame damage with a gooseneck adaptor. Very unpleasant ride. I finally converted to the Anderson 3220 adaptor and would never go back. Friends tell me it's the best ride quality towing a 5ver. Another big advantage is weight. You gain 200 +/- capacity converting from a standard 5th wheel hitch to the Anderson , as it weighs only 35 lbs. I like a clean bed when not towing, and installation or removal takes me at 66 maybe 5 minutes with no tools. Anderson's $1M liability insurance and lifetime warranty are nice too.

Reese Goosebox is exceptional. No adapters are needed. We've used ours for about 15 mos. Yes it is in the $1,200-$1400 range but this is a really important component in towing. The added cost is nominal and well worth it for us. Completely frees up our truck bed. Gives us a smooth ride that uses an air bag to pretty much eliminate chucking and the pounding of poor road surfaces. Can't say enough positives on this decision. gooseneck conversion

We had a B&W turnover ball installed on our Chevy truck to pull our cattle trailers. When we bought our 5th wheel RV we knew we would have to purchase a good hitch that would slide because our truck has a standard 6' bed. We are not youngsters and the idea of lifting a 500 lb hitch in and out of our truck bed every time we needed the bed for something else was not at the top of our list. We decided to go with the Reece Goosebox. This replaces the kingpin on the trailer. All our problems solved. Easier to hookup, no hitch to remove and store cost about the same as other hitch, and no worry about hitting the cab or side rails of our truck.

When I bought my 38FT Silverback Fifth Wheel, I got the Kingpin changed to a Reese Goosebox and I had a B&W Turnover Ball hitch (https://www.hitchweb.com/category/hd...ball-gooseneck) installed in in the bed of my new 2015 2500HD Silverado. The only thing I changed was the standard turnover ball to a 3" offset ball to clear the cab of the truck when making sharp turns.
I had this set up for 4 years and travelled through the Rockies and Newfoundland and never had an issue. The other thing I love about this set up is, when I don't pull, I just flip the original turnover ball and I have a flat bed in my truck.
