Cost to have camper moved--estimates?
So, let's say I have to have a 5th wheel camper moved from point A to point B, and I can't do it myself. Let's say the distance is roughly 600 miles. What should I expect to pay to get this done? $1/mile? A flat rate? Any ideas or experience is appreciated. Thanks!

I've heard that the transporters that haul from the factory get $1.69 a mile, but this year there was an additional $.20 added so they could get more drivers. Plus there is a cdl charge for bigger campers and fuel surcharges as well.
I believe when my dealer sends a guy up to get a unit, he charges about $2 a loaded mile.
If someone only charges a buck a loaded mile, I would be worried. Either they don't have a clue about what there doing, don't have proper Insurance, or a host of other things I'd worry about.
For what its worth, when I was running an 18 wheeler, we usually charged between $3.50-4.00 a loaded mile. Or on short hauls a flat rate per load, since a mileage rate wouldn't be worth doing at that rate.

You can go to this link and get an online bid if your interested. No need to talk to an individual, just fill out the needed information and wait for the bids to be sent to you.

It was www.uship.com
I shopped for bids a couple of times and the prices were not bad. It is presented in an auction format, so as the bid time runs down the transportation companies tend to get a little more aggressive in lowering their price.
Yes, they are all insured and bonded companies.

$2 per loaded mile is about the going price and I would make sure of the insurance issue, who is going to pay if there is an accident? Good Luck

I am having a 5th wheel shipped Monday from MI to NH at $1.75 per mile with no extras.
I did try USHIP as well and they came in about $300 cheaper but for a small difference (considering the purchase price), I decided to stick with the company the dealer uses 100% of the time.
