Ouch! Aw, she'll relent Chap. It looks like I might get a new Ecoboost through "the finance committe" (my wife) next December or so . . . Well, it is not a necessity. My '05 is doing great and could easily go another 100M miles; and I really like it. . . . . But that technology is SO enticing!
I haven't seen any in dealer inventory yet but it now shows up on the Ford site and I believe you can order them now.

Several dealers already have ecoboost trucks on order. They will be hitting showrooms in 2-3 weeks. It's also available on pretty much all trim levels and is a $750 option. You can build it yourself on ford.com. To me well worth the $750 and is a much better deal than getting the 6.2L V8 which is a $3500 option.

I was in Regina on Wednesday and all the dealerships said they are "in town" but they couldnt show them to me.
One salesman tried arguing me in the showroom that you can only get the ecoboost in the FX4 crew cab package. then he went on to say the website is full of mistakes and 'boo boos'. well why would they falsely advertise what packages you can build? bunch of BS. If i come in there wanting a regular cab long box 2wd with the ecoboost with cash in hand they better well get me my truck! lol
on a second note, if you have a new fangled phone or you have mp3's on your computer and you know how to put them on a USB memory stick, get the SYNC feature!! so neat! its a bluetooth handsfree phone device, music player, etc. in the usa its a voice navigated gps to.

That salesman doesn't know what he is talking about. You can get the ecoboost in just about any package you want

I read through this link http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2011/01...-like.htmlthat Oregon Camper posted earlier, and this statement just doesn't sound right: The dual-overhead-cam power plant was shipped to dynamometer cell 36B in the Ford Dearborn engine labs and run for 300 hours to replicate the equivalent of 150,000 customer miles, including repeated temperature-shock runs when the engine was cooled to minus 20 degrees Fahrenheit and then heated to 235 degrees.
On the road an engine run for 300 hours is going to rack up 15,000 miles at an average speed of 50 mph, not 150,000 miles. I know that Ford put that engine through all sorts of tough situations, but that 300 hour/150,000 mile statement just doesn't equate.

Chap, that has to be a typo. My truck just rolled 100k and engine hrs are 2219.
I would imagine that should have been 3000.

One of my good friends just ordered his XLT Ecoboost this week. Damn . . .
Now I kind of wish that I hadn't talked him into it. I gotta listen to him crow about it for the next 12 months before I can order one . . .
We drove the 5.0 too. Quite gutty but not as torquey; had to be wound up a bit more. Sounded awfully nice.

Basicly a modified turbo .............they been around for years. So im guessing this new one will work out good for long term use ! I always laugh when I here the New Ecoboost engine..........yes different name, just a turbo on a V-6 engine. They had them on my 1984 Dodge Shadow Turbo-V-4. Got great gas milage, But had the get up and go if you punched it !!(Got alot of speeding tickets with that thing). I see Ford is putting this New Eco-boost (Turbo)in the Fiesta next year. Should go like hell!!

Big changes in technology and reliability though . . . no comparison to 1984. Direct injection, variable cam timing, water cooled turbos, no turbo lag, . . . You could say the same about overhead cams, four valves per cylinder, supercharing, etc. You can find those in cars from the 20's. But there is no comparison in the level of sophistication.

I just got the F250 you described, only has 670 miles on it. I had been looking for more then 6 months and considered all three, Ford, Dodge and Chevrolet. The F250 won out, but I didn't like paying $39,125 for it!

I'm a Ford man myself although my truck is a Chev. One advantage the new Dodge diesels have over the rest is that you don't have to use an additive to the fuel (called something like urin). Wayne

For now dodge is usuing a ERG system to keep from using urea but they too will be using it soon in theirs soon because the EPA requires lower emmisions in the future and nobody will be spared.

Dodge met this year's requirements on their pickups without having to have the DEF, but they had to add them to their cab/chassis units. My dealer stated 2012 all their deisel trucks with have the DEF tanks. DEF = Deisel Exaust Fluid - a bit easier than that urea name

It came from europe who had clean burn deisel engines way before us and now we are all having to do the same even the large semi trucks are now starting to do the def next from what Im hearing most farmers who haven't bought newer diesel engines will have to retro fit their equipment with the newer engines and catalyctic systems.
