Double pull hitch and wiring experience

Hello all,
We have a 2011 Sabre 32BHOK-6. We would like to put a 2" receiver on the back and wire for a 2nd trailer. A small one with 3 or 4 dirtbikes on it.

For those that have double pulled would you ever have a need or wanted brakes on the 2nd trailer?

Thanks for the information.
Tony

I had a 5th wheel mounted on the back of one of my fifth wheels so that I could pull a small fishing boat. As it was under 1500 lbs the boat trailer had no breaks, and I had no problems for years pulling that arrangement. I connected the wiring at the front of the 5th wheel in the forward compartment so that I could get to it easy and then ran it out the bottom of the compartment and along a pipe with zip ties to the rear of the unit worked great for 11 years. By the way I used an ac extension cord and cut the ends off for the wiring to the back, worked great and all within a weather tight cover.

I own a Rockwood..

No. Don't require brakes at all. I could not imagine what would happen if the brakes on the dirt bike trailer locked up.

Also you can not tow a trailer behind the Sabre. Other forum members can confirm but this thread speaks to damage that can be caused.

Well dang it. The dealership told us that the -6 on the model number was for heavier axles and Springs so we could double tow!

We did!

Have your dealer install the hitch. Then you're covered. If they won't, perhaps you shouldn't. When we were shopping, we saw many campers with trailer hitches already installed. Pulled a 16' alum bass boat behind a 28' cardinal for years. Lights tied into rv tail lights.
Inexpensive wireless rear camera mounted in rear window.

Check your state laws on doubles. Some require a special license.

Btw the -6 is the upgraded axles but only for cargo carrying capacity only.

Wow. That golf cart hauler is quite the contraption. I see that more than 1/2 the weight of the cart was on the tail of the frame with that design.
The 32bkok has the bike rack that is rated for 450lbs. Figuring 4 dirtbikes and a small trailer should be under 2200lbs. Standard 10-15% hitch weight I should be about 220-300lbs hitch weight. That would be under the 450 limit of the bike rack.

Are their 5th bunk houses with outside kitchens that allow you to double?

Static Load vs active load. Think about the jerking and yawning and bumps that trailer will make with all that weight.

If it could be done I am pretty sure the Manufacturers would market it and sell it.
