Here's an interesting article from the Dallas News on the 2015 Silverado Duramax... http://www.dallasnews.com/business/c...of-the-way.ece

Z71 option......

Enjoyed your article on the 2015 HD. Will be ordering one soon. My current 2011 2500 HD has the Z71 option. I don't plan on going off-road and if eliminating the Z71 option improves the ride, I'm all for that! I will definitely road test the 2015 HD with / without the Z71 package. I wonder if the option helps at all with the towing experience?

Well, you have me motivated to check this option out more closely and do some ride comparisons soon.

Us country boys here in the south don't feel safe unless we are in our FORD F350 4x4's with big tires and yes clacking big turbo charged diesels with Big bull bashing front bumpers that won't blemish no matter what you run over. Yes our Big John Deere is the same way with stereo, A/C, tilt wheel, air ride and exterior lights to rival any UFO. We love it!!!

The trucks of today are indeed technological feats as compared to the diesels of the 90's. I was happy with my 97 powerstroke until my wife pressured me into test driving the Ford, Chevys, and Rams. As a word of warning, I would not even go sit in a new truck unless you are ready to buy one. You will instantly be addicted to the comfort, massive power, and quietness these new trucks offer. I ended up with a Ram 2500 but each manufacturer has up'ed their game with these beasts.

Let's see if the new ones withstand the test of time like the trucks of the 90's I still see on the road. I'm still sad I'm going to sell my '97...

I got this truck (2015 2500 4x4 duramax)in May and am quite happy with it. My last truck (may it RIP) was the 2012 4x4 duramax with the standard towing suspension. For this one I opted for the Z-71 suspension and am much happier. The Z-71 rides the same on the highway and while towing, but is a world better on the dirt roads going to and from the campsite and this is true with or without the trailer attached. Just my 2 cents
