Duramax Fuel Filter

How often do you change your fuel filter?
When I first got my truck at 28K miles, it now has 107K miles. I used to get 15K miles out of one as recommended by GM. Now I only get between 2,500-7,500 miles on one. Same fuel station and the filter does not look dirty.

You don't say what year your Duramax is or if you are running stock or not, but fuel filters with OEM filter housing should easily get 12k - 15k.
Are you having any lagging, hard start, loss of prime, or loss of power problems?
The most common cause of only getting a few thousand miles before the DIC filter message comes up is bad fuel. The next is a leak in the filter housing head.
Might really look at your fuel or have a third party analysis done to determine if you need to drain/clean your tank and lines.
Check out the several Duramax forums for more detail.
I deleted my OEM filter housing and went with FASS lift pump and filter system. Best mod for my 2007 Duramax.

Ah. My son runs the 07.5 LMM. Nice truck. He did have 1/4 tank problem, so we put in a FASS lift pump, tank sump, and new fuel lines while were there. No more problems.
Definitely sounds like you have a fuel supply problem. I would look at the cheap stuff first like fuel, contaminated tank, bad fuel filter head, collapsing lines. Then look at FPRV and injector pump.

I have a aluminum aux fuel tank gravity transferred to the main tank. I replaced kinked fuel lines at the transmission. Replaced the FPRV wlug. The filter head has no visible leaks.

The FASS lift pump: how long do these filters last since it is constantly pumping fuel?…

I usually change mine once a year just for good measure. I was lazy and the previous set was on the truck for about 25k. FASS recommends around 25k depending on conditions but I don't like that so I usually do it sooner.
My stock filter before the FASS was about the same, once a year.
The only time I have had to change filters due to flow problems was when I got some bad fuel on a trip. I changed filters once a day for three days and several tanks of fresh fuel (never letting it get past half) and then I was good for another 2 days until I got home and could thoroughly clean the tank.
We use our Duramax primarily for towing our 12k fifth wheel all over the country

The OEM filter head is good until it isn't. Mine was good for years and then I was replacing it or rebuilding it constantly due to loss of prime problems and when it got bad it would falter under load. The problem is it sucks in air so you usually don't see a leak.
When I finally had enough I installed the FASS. No more problems since. And it greatly improved pedal response. My wife still spins the tires when she takes it out
I did try to run the OEM filter and head with the FASS but that didn't work out for me, so I just deleted it entirely. Some folks seem to be successful doing that though.

I just replaced fuel filter on Sunday. I had 25K miles on filter and still have 50% life left. I usually change it once a year but this one was there 18 months. I also have AIR DOG lift pump.

Is this mileage solo or combined including towing?
Ex: 15K including towing

I have had 3 DMAX trucks going back to an '06 LBZ. I change them all at 12K although the new L5P via the dash light will go to 15K. The reason is that the rail fuel pressure is now far higher then that '06 so why would I go up in change interval??

If I had your vintage then the FASS and an outboarded filter I would go more.

I know the older trucks are nice but the new ones are flat out freight trains. On the flat road doing like 64 mph and at 23K lbs combined weight I'm at about 1400 RPM.

'17 and up L5P motors already have a lift pump in the tank.
