Electric 5th wheel hitch??

I recently underwent major back surgery and had complications the will limit how much I can reach, pull, twist or lift.
We currently have a Curt Q20 5th wheel hitch I have to stand on a stool and reach to lock and unlock, and of course pull the handle. I am wondering if anyone knows of a hitch that operates with an electric solonoid or actuator of some sort that could operate, latch, unlatch and lock the hitch with a remote?

I don't think I've heard of one, but what a great idea. I think.

Reese makes a remote slider operator for their Kwik-Slide hitches, but I haven't seen an electric coupler actuator.

Having said that, I have an Andersen Ultimate II fifth wheel hitch and the only pulling or pushing motion you have is the small tee handle that slides the retaining pin in place and it only requires very minimal force to pull or push into place and turn to lock/unlock.

It can be installed so the it moves the pin back about 4" so you may not need a slider.
I had a slider hitch before this one and never used it so the Andersen was a good fit for me.

X 2 on the Anderson. the release is at the end of a cable. Mine is mounted on the underside of nose of camper near pin box. Slides in and out with one or two fingers of force.

Thanks. I'll look at Anderson hitches. I don't need a slider, just something that take minimal reaching and effort to hook up and un hook the trailer.

You are gonna love that Andersen Ultimate. Had mine 4 years and it is rail mounted because it was in my 2001 F-350.

Go to YouTube and watch some videos.
Call Andersen Manufacturing and talk to one of the owners.

The whole thing weighs 40 pounds or less. No strain on a child’s back or yours!

the B&W cam/lever motion is simple to work. i had a B&W slider, got a new truck with a factory Curt hitch and hated it for the reason of pulling that silly handle and flipping the bail closed and putting a pin in it. plush it was pretty flimsy compared to the B&W.

to couple, the b&W will latch itself when you back into it. lock itself. just reach over the bed side and drop the pin. uncouple almost as easy, pull the pin and the gentlest of a push un couple the kingpin. amazing.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Looking at the Andersen website and videos it looks like that would be a great solution for me. That is one big problem solved that will allow us to keep rving for several more years. I really appreciate the help. Steve
