Equalizer Hitch

I'm wondering what parts make the difference between a 6,000lb versus 10,000lb hitch, Is it the spring arm? Or are the rest of the parts more heavy duty? Is the sway control bracket heavier? Could a person just replace the spring arm and achieve the same purpose?
