F-250 Wheel Locks
Hi, all, We have a 2015 F-250 for our tow vehicle. It uses flat lug nuts on the tires. I've not been able to find any locking nuts for the vehicle, but have been pushed to buy some *conical* locking lugs (M14-1.5). Two problems. (1) connical v. flat; and (2) they're so big that the lug nut cover no longer would fit. Auto Zone, Pep Boys, etc., have been unable to help, nor has the dealer to date. (In fairness, haven't been able to ask the service department.) Suggestions?

Tapered v. flat
I saw those when searching, but the picture shows tapered lugs instead of the flat "mag" lugs on my F-250. My understanding (based upon conversation with a local 4-wheel shop gent) is that Ford changed from the tapered to the flat with the 2014 F-250 models, and that, despite the "compatibility" box on the Ford website, they really aren't interchangeable. AutoZone & PepBoys, with their online catalogs and at the stores themselves, seem to concur, and don't offer wheel locks for the 2014 and 2015. I'm hoping that the experienced people on this list might know more -- definitely more than I do.

I guess I need to pull one off my 350 to see which type I have.

We had locks on our 06 Jeep, but we had High Tech wheels & tires. I don't think I need them on our 250.....unless maybe you live or camp in a Bad Area..

Don't know about being in a "bad area", but criminals do target vehicles for tire theft. We've known people who've had it happen to them or to their neighbors.

Pulling a wheel off a 3/4 with 8 lug nuts is a lot diff then a car. Chances on someone taking them are remote unless you park in a really bad area..

Wheel locks & tapered v. flat

Thanks much. The largest with tires stolen in our area (per police reports, generally a "good" area of the city) that I recall is a Ford Expedition. Understand that an F-250 would be tougher.
Still, the thread concerns obtaining wheel locks and whether tapered lugs can replace flat (mag) lugs on a rim.

Never heard recently about tires being stolen around here, they do not mess with tires, they would rather steal the whole truck......
Interesting I haven't had the need for wheel locks in years...... Seriously tires never get stolen here Lawn mowers ATV's, copper, cats, yes.

If you wan't to lock the wheels on you're truck a good Ford dealer should be able to better answer you're question. I personally don't use wheel locks after having one fail and stop me from changing a tire beside the road. I had to get towed and have it cut off, it cost more than the tire and rim but that's just my opinion based on experience. You get the locks if you see a need for them.

Maybe a good alarm system would be a better way to go.
