F150 engine quit while under way

My 2018 F150 engine stopped running while I was driving through a parking lot today, a message appeared on the driver information screen that mentioned the auto stop feature. It told me to put the truck in Park and restart. I did and continued to drive without further problem.

Glad I wasnít on the road.

Later on another trip I deactivated the auto stop and the radio came on.

A quick web search didnít show anything related.

2.7L V6 Ecoboost engine.

Any ideas?

F150 engine quit while under way

Just its normal use is dangerous in my experience if I donít remember to turn it off before driving.

Pulling out of my driveway or making a left turn while waiting for an opening in oncoming traffic that momentary lack of ďgoĒ can get one clobbered.

But today it quit while moving!

No idiots illuminated. I donít have a scan tool. I will be taking it to Ford dealer for oil change and a recall.

Over 25,000 miles on mine. Stop/Start always enabled. Has worked flawlessly. Only stops engine when I firmly push the brake.

Sorry do not have a Ford. You were actually in motion, driving through a parking lot and the motor just quit?

Delco - This is off topic, but I see you traded from a class b to a travel trailer. What are your reasons for switching from a class b to a tt?

Sounds like an electronic box problem. Electronics are the only weak point on Ford trucks.

Your engine is showing a very dangerous ailment. If you are turning across on coming traffic for instance, you can put your self in a very dangerous situation. Get it resovled ASAP.

Apparently Ford hasn't learned their lesson. Problems like this started in 1983 and eventually led to a Class Action Settlement.

Quote:
Twenty-two million Ford vehicles made from 1983 through 1995 have defective ignition modules that may cause the vehicle to stall and die on the highway at any time. Failure at highway speeds can cause the driver to lose control or even result in a stalled vehicle being hit by a truck. Some models had failure rates as high as 90%. According to Ford, two-thirds of the failures were of the "die on the road" type.
https://www.autosafety.org/ford-tfi-...ss-settlement/

Happened to my wife while she was driving our 1985 Fairlane down the freeway. Some people had it happen while making left turns with disastrous results.

Don't know if your vehicle is involved or not but Ford recently issued a recall for a similar problem on other F-150's. My 2013 is involved in the recall but no problems to this point.

Over 25K on ours as well and it is always on.

Never had a problem with it and don't even notice it anymore.

Have never experienced a "Lack of go" on it at anytime.

That is correct. I was in drive doing maybe 10 to 15 MPH when engine quit. I pulled out of a parking space about a minute prior to that.

My first RV was a Sunseeker class C. I now have a Dynamax class C. Never had a class B.

We were/are considering a tt and it is all the fault of this Ford F150. My wife loves the comfortable seats! So do I. She has developed a dislike for the cab seats in the Dodge Promaster chassis since she has a couple of injures that did not exist when we bought this Dynamax. The seats are a bit narrow and do not give full support under the thigh.

I have two reasons for not getting a tt:

1. I live on a winding and undulating 2 lane state highway with a speed limit of 25 but most people are doing close to 45. The sight lines are very short. I would have to back a trailer into my sloped driveway and there are many impatient drivers crossing the the double yellow lines to get by while vehicles maneuver in and out of driveways.

2. I like the convenience of my 24 foot long Dynamax Rev. I can park it almost anywhere. I use it all year for shopping trips, etc. The than the cab seats it is very comfortable.

Thank you. I am waiting for a call back from my Ford dealer service manager to schedule an appointment.

I am not the kind of driver that will wait all day for a break in traffic. If I see a safe for me opening I am taking it. Just puling out of my driveway can be dangerous.

I had to get rid of a nice VW Jetta due to hesitation. Almost got clobbered a few times due to the hesitation.

Maybe it depends on the type of area we drive on. I am not familiar with your area but lots of traffic congestion in this part of the world. So that second of it takes for the engine to restart and go is a problem for some.

How do you like your bed rug?

The Ford dealer had the truck for a couple of days last week.

No recall on engine stopping and no service bulletins. No codes in computer. Nothing found that would cause the engine quitting and no evidence that it did quit other than my own experience.

Now I drive with a lingering apprehension that the engine will quit again while on the road.

As the TV character O’Reilly used to say “What a revolting situation.”
