F150 pulling Ability
I have 2014 F150 4x4 Super crew with 5.0l and 3.55 rear end. Currently pulling 28ft travel trailer with weight of 7700 lbs approx when loaded. Does pull ok other than in crosswinds.
Looking to get Rockwood 8289WS 5th wheel. I am wondering if the truck will be able to handle weight (8200 lb dry based on mfg) and pulling of it.

I am not sure about the Ford but I tow a 8280 that weights 8900 lbs loaded with a 2013 Silverdo 1500 series 4x4 3.8 engine . My owners manual says tha my truck can tow a fifth wheel that weights 9500 lbs . I have towed mine all over New England with no problems. Rockwood made this series of fifth wheels to be 1/2 ton towable .

I saw a Ford F-150 pulling the biggest fifth wheel that Blue Ridge makes in Nebraska, those Fords can pull. I have a lot of respect for F-150

What is the payload of your truck as stated on the yellow sticker on your driver's side door pillar? What is the GCVWR for your truck? What is the estimated pin weight of the new fifth wheel?

I could pull that trailer with my lawn tractor. The only problem is, my lawn tractor isn't designed for that.

The F150 supercrew with the 5.0 & 3.55 gears is rated for 7,700lbs. If you had the 3.73 gears it jumps up to 9,300lbs. This is right from fords towing specs.

When a truck manufacturer post the towing info on their doors, it means they have done a good amount of research on those figures. Does it mean you can't tow more? NO. Does it mean you can't go faster? NO. Does it mean you can't "get by" going out of specks? NO. It simply means that is the max they will certify that certain truck will handle SAFELY.
You may "get by" for a while, but why push it? I once saw a Nissan Titan towing the space shuttle. Was it certified to tow a space shuttle?
People need to look at both ends of the equation. Can you stop it? Are you going to kill yourself or others trying to. Life is short. Be safe.

It was a Toyota not a Nissan. And stoping is done by the trailer brakes. Even a one ton towing its max weight will be in trouble if the trailer brakes fail.

2016 max out Dodge 1 ton will tow over 31000! Just released numbers yesterday...must be for those pull'n freight trains! Or, logg'n

I do believe the TV's brakes have a great deal to do with the stopping process. You are begging for trouble if you depend too much on your trailer brakes alone. That's why they are adjustable. The difference between the brakes on a 1500 and a 2500 HD is huge in what they will stop and how fast.

If your trailer brakes are not stopping your trailer you need to get them looked at. You are also trying to stop more weight with a 2500 than a 1500.

but with much better equipment. The brakes on a 2500HD are huge, not small and much less efficient in comparison to a 1500. The exhaust brake is nice too.

I don't know about that. My F150 has 13.8" front rotors and 13.7" rear rotors. Your 2500 has 13.8" front rotors and 14.17" rear rotors...NOT a huge difference. I don't have exhaust brake, but with the "Selec-shift" transmission I can keep my #7500 trailer under 50 mph on a 10 mile 5% descent...without applying the brakes. With the right technique I really don't see braking an issue in this case.
The only issue I see is the 3.55s
