You’ll be ok. Just dial in your WDH. Again your only going on short trips. Long trips is a different animal. I went to a class A motorhome because of that and I had a 9,200lb trailer. Had a lot of flak in this thread ,headaches and setting it setup but did.

Does short vs long trip truly matter? If it's only safe to do on short trips, it's not safe. And to put it another way, at what mileage does it become unsafe? And if there is a long trip cutoff, is it safe until you reach that point and then it becomes unsafe? or was it unsafe the whole time? See where I'm going with this...

It not about the safety of the setup it’s about the drivers endurance to drive across country Not taking a month. And being rested when you get there. I wouldn’t hesitate to tow 400 miles to the destination with my old TT but over 1000 no way that’s why I have the Georgetown now. A lot more stable especially when having the toad behind. Unhooking the toad is a snap. A TT is not as easy with WDH

I'm looking at a new TT just under 30ft and I'm not sure my F150 can do it. Mainly because of the tongue weight and UVW but the 4ft longer length doesn't help.

Why that length and not the number just left or right?
Seat of the pants hunch or done some testing?
Based on what some fella at the bar recommends or his/her equivalent on an internet forum?

Conditions can get to the point where even a Freightliner or Kenworth will get blown over so toss the nonsense that bigger solves all towing issues.
Myself I follow what Ford says my truck can safely tow and stop (staying within payload and trailer ratings) and have been very happy with my 7700 GVWR 28' trailer.

Agree. We have 28 ft. 6 6inch, 7600 GVRW. Our 150 does fine with it. You need to check the specifics on your specific 150.

I was on Truck Trader on a Friday evening and spotted a 1994 Freightliner, 64” bunk, 310E Cummins, 9-speed Spicer, single drive axle with 1.4 million miles and 300,000 miles on the engine. I installed a Hayes air-over-electric trailer brake controller to activate the trailer’s triple axle brakes.
Here’s a picture of the business end of the boat; Mercury Racing Speedmaster 3A drives and a set of semi-surface-drive propellers. Inside was a pair of mild supercharged 509 big block Chevy engines.
All in all, the truck, trailer and boat made for a pretty impressive package.
And yes, I had driven semi trucks before, in a previous life.

Yeah, it was impressive when I caught a bunch of fishing line on a prop shaft, cutting the seal and filling the drive with water. Only a few places in the States can do the Speedmaster 3A drives so I took it to Mel Riggs in Wisconsin. The bill was $8,000.

Well im not the OP but we are in the exact situation. I have a super crew ecoboost and just bought a 29te. I too was worried about sway. It turns out the trailor has a Hensley hitch and the previous owner pulled with a supercrew ecoboost. He said he never had problems with sway most likely thanks to the hitch. Coincidentally not 1/2 mile after hooking up and starting down the road a moron slammed on his brakes to turn. With my cheeks firmly clinched we stopped on a dime. I imagine we will use 2 vehicles when the whole family is going but we are under all the numbers for short partial family trips. Im also going to be getting a newish Ram Rebel before next camping season which will have slightly better towing numbers. So its a go for me. Sorry if ive angered the towing gods.

Trailer tow.

I've read all the "Expert" opinions on these 6 pages of comments. The length of the trailer is unimportant, the hitch is the important part. A good WDH with sway control is what you need. I have been pulling trailers since 1968, everything from a 16foot Yellowstone to my current 35 foot Coachmen. If anything, the short ones are more susceptible to fish tailing than the long ones, they are also harder to back up than the long ones. I pulled a 35 foot Shasta from Michigan to Alaska and back with a 2011 Ford F-150 Supercab, 8' box, Ecoboost 3.5 with max tow and max payload. That truck was rated at 12,000 lb tow capacity. I use a Reese WDH with dual cam sway control, never had a problem even at highway speeds in high winds or being passed by semis.
