Fastway wdh instalation.

Just looked over hitch installation instructions on youtube to see if adjustments were needed. Before I get into fender well measurements I noticed the dealer mounted the trunnion bar brackets 24" back from the coupler. Instructions call for between 27"and 30". There is nothing in the way of placing them within this range. Question : what if any effects could this cause on weight distribution and the following adjustments to the ball head.

From the Fastway E2 hitch manual....

"Placing the sway control brackets centered at
30” back puts the least amount of stress on the
trailer and hitch components, and provides the
most comfortable ride. Sway brackets should be
placed at 30” whenever possible."

Moving the brackets back will increase the amount of spring in the bars for a given washer count, and bracket and head heights. Therefore, the amount of weight being distributed will increase by moving the brackets back.

If all is good now, moving the brackets back 6" will likely reduce the number of washers needed by one.

Thank's all for your input. Finally replaced the China bombs. The GY endurance raised the trailer 1"which made me review the wdh setup when I noticed the trunnion bar supports 6" too far forward on the A frame, enough to start over. Also no slight tip back on the hitch ball. Removing washers would have messed up the ball height so ended lowering the hitch 1 hole and actually adding 2 washers, at 7 now so between 5 and 9 spec. Brought the tv front down to 1/8 " of normal and significantly reduced rear squat. Borrowed a torque wrench for the hitch bolts. Had to find a gorilla, I couldn't get to 250 ft/lbs. Maybe in my prime, a little soft now since retirement .
