Fifth Wheel hitch 2020 chevy

Bought a 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500HD with puck system. Camper is a Puma 295BHSS with a Revolution pin box. Old hitch is a Reese Pro 15 K in the old rail setup. Looking for an adaptor to the puck system or a new hitch. What has others used with a 2020 Silverado puck system?

Hi,

I will be watching this with great interest, along with any comments you have about dealing with the increased height of the Chevy truck bed itself.

I parked both trucks( 2003 and 2020) in the same spot (separately) and lower the tailgates to measure. The 2020 is 3 inches higher than the 2003. Thought there would have been a bigger difference.

Well I no longer have a Chevy but I just installed The Anderson system. So far I like it. Have not been able to tow much yet. Later RJD

I had a Reese slider 5er hitch R63? and traded my Silverado for a 2019.....Reese told me at the time there was not an adapter available to fit the new "puck" system...Ended up buying a new Reese hitch ....my favorite manufacturer for 30 odd years!!!!

I've heard the 2020 Chevys have different spacing on the pucks and because so, the hitch manufacturers are a bit behind.

If not already, I suspect someone soon will make an adapter for the pucks to the rails.

Reese has one for the Ford that I used with an older 15k Reese hitch with great success.

I’ve been led to believe The only OEM style hitch for the 2020 is made by b&w. I don’t know much about the Anderson but it may fit the centre ball. I’m sure that hasn’t changed?

Interesting. If it has a factory installed system, it may be a Curt with pucks and a removable center ball. If that's the case, an Andersen will be an easy setup. Don't know what GM has done for the 2020. My 2018 had a 5th wheel kit that says Chevy on the outside of the case, but Curt all over the contents. Let us know what you have.

Reese Goose Box

Have you considered changing to the Reese Goose Box 16 or 20K, I currently have a 2018 Chevy 2500HD with the factory puck system and using the 16k goose box, it’s a great setup.

Yes Curt makes the GM OEM mount hitches...but my Chevy dealer said not for 2020 yet. the sales manger wanted to see my B&W as according to them, B&W is the only manufactuer out now that fits the different puck spacing on the 2020s.

I am going to buy a 2020 3500 GMC Denali. I have a Anderson on my 2015 Chevrelet 3500 High Country. I emailed Anderson and was told that my hitch may not work. That the new trucks are much higher and they cover the safety chain puck( if that’s what it’s called). If your bed is only 3” taller the Anderson hitch may work for you except for safety chain hook up. Are the sidewalls much taller than your 03?

In the new trailer life magazine they listed 3 that had hitches for the 2020 chevys and trailer saver had an add there also.

I have an Andersen rail mount from my 2012 GMC that I put into my 2018 GMC 3500 Dually by using the Demco rail mount puck system. Check out Demco before purchasing a new receiver.

Had 2007 GMC 2500 with the super glide hitch it would not fit the new puck system. Bought new GMC 2500 five months ago and only manufacture who made a hitch was Curt which would fit the puck system. Dealer helped with half of new hitch, but still have a hitch left over. Now have hitch for sale.

5er hitches

I read that B and W is the only one that makes the hitch for 2020 Chevy. I have a B and W in my 2017 RAM 3500 DRW and I love it. I used to be a Reese man but I really like the one I have now. ------ Happy Trails

Not true, about B & W being the only manufacturer making 5th wheel hitches to fit 2020 GMC & Chevy puck systems. We took delivery of our 2020 GMC 3500 HD Denali on September 6, 2019 in Greeley, CO. Correct,.... 5th wheel manufacturers are 'behind' in making their hitches to fit the 'new' GMC/Chevy puck system locations. But, We got the last of 5 Curt 20k 5th wheel hitches that the GMC dealer had pre-ordered from Curt earlier in the summer of 2019, when they found out about the puck system locations being changed for the 2020 model year. I don't know if the Curt hitches are easier to obtain now 4 months later, but at the time, that was the only hitch (Curt A20) that was available to fit our new truck. We've been happy with it, pulling our new 2020 Riverstone 39RKFB acquired 9/27/19. Also, can't say enough good things about the new GMC 3500 HD Denali with the new 10 speak Allison transmission. Hope this helps.

I could be wrong, but if the 2020s can be had with the ball mount, an Andersen might work. I haven't researched the 2020s since I'm not in the market for one. Can the ball mount be had on a 2020?

Yes, our 2020 GMC 3500 also came with a ball mount, in addition to the puck mounts. I did not order it, but it came with the truck. It's listed as a $ 285 option, if I remember correctly.

Is your new truck a long bed or short bed?
