Fifth Wheel TV bed 7-way connector
I have a new-to-me 2014 Ford F250 that has a bed 7-way electrical connector installed. However, I found that the connecting cable(s) were installed, but not hooked up to the bumper 7-way connector, so the bed 7-way does not work. Today I got under my TV, found the cable tucked up and zip tied to the TV frame. I freed them up, cleaned all of the electrical connections with "electrical connection cleaner" and then connected said cable(s) to the bumper 7-way connection. I then did a circuit check on both the TV bed 7-way AND the bumper 7-way. All pins show good connections EXCEPT for the trailer electrical brake pin. No light on the circuit tester. I had my wife depress the TV brake pedal, but no lights at either the bed 7-way or bumper 7-way. What am I doing incorrectly?
Do I need to have my 5th wheel actually connected to test the "trailer brake" pin on the 7-ways? I didn't think so, but I'm no wiring genius. I do know that the electrical brakes work on the 5th wheel WHEN I DO NOT have the wiring harness between the bumper 7-way and truck bed 7-way connected.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Should I assume the connecting cable is bad and just purchase a new one? I'm open to your suggestions/comments. Thanks
