Tfltruck on YouTube bought a model X and then tried to a tiny camper from Colorado to Oregon and found out the hard way. Drive 1.5 hours and charge an hour. At one point they couldn't make the next supercharger so charge time would have been 3-4 hours just to do the next 1.5 hour leg. They threw in the towel and called for a buddy with the Hemi to come and bail them out so it didn't take 3 days to do what any normal person would do in one.

Also the 180Kw battery needs more capacity than 180Kw to be able to use 180Kw. At least 20% more.

Thankfully we don’t take our trailer anywhere bullet proof glass is needed. And no way I’m getting that mileage while hauling my TT through the mountains in BC.

Also I wonder what the mileage is like up north when it’s way below 0.

Laughable for anyone that uses trucks for real purposes.

Pretty sure I’ll see them in the city though.

Going to get interesting. For any unfamiliar with our Initiative system in WA, the voters can essentially pass their own laws that the Legislature gets to vote on but without making any substantial changes. The law can then not be amended for two years.

Voters passed a "$30 Car Tab" initiative two times before and the Legislature immediately added more fees as soon as the two year deadline passed. The last initiative passed with a good margin but something tells me our Legislature will still not get the message.

I wonder how many of those truck orders Tesla claims are from California State Agencies that have been ordered by Gov Newsome to go electric. Some agencies may have a hard time hauling their tools or equipment around in a Prius or Nissan Leaf.
A perfect example of snowflakes eating their own, as with a lot of people - it won't affect me or not in my backyard and they stay with the PC crowd until its too late and it becomes extremely difficult if not impossible to go back and the changes straddle and strangle the future generations over mostly hype, lies and extremism.

.48 Cd with a large frontal aera. In the details of the calculation you see it needs 30 kW to go an hour at 65 mph which means for a 500 mile range it's going to need a 225 kWh battery compared to the current long range Model X only with a 100 kWh battery. So worse aerodynamics than any current full size pickup and double the battery of the $100k Model X but it's going to somehow cost 1/2 as much? I'll believe it when I see it.

Like to see the mileage on a cold winter day. I know the Tesla car mileage is almost 75% less in -20 weather, but they tell you to turn off the heat and hand warmer to improve the mileage. As if you want to freeze while driving!

Minecraft truck looks better. Why I'd take the Bollinger over the Tesla anyday.

Oh and BTW this electric pickup will beat "the first electric pickup" to market by more than a year, Rivian will beat Tesla by more than 2 years. Tesla=not first electric pickup by a mile.

Stick it on the Back Burner, Friend.

As with all Musk uber-marketing, you won't see this vehicle for at least three years. And if it appears at all (we're still waiting for the promised sports car and semi tractor he promised a couple of years ago), it won't be the same as he promises today and will cost far more than the advertised price - like the premium over base price he currently demands for the Model 3. Take the long view and don't fall for his snake-oil pitch.

Tesla pickup

It is a strange looking beast; but there are already over 250,000 preorders for it, so apparently it appeals to some. I don't think it was necessarily designed with campers in mind, but I imagine it would be ok for a weekend getaway. Cross-country trek, not so sure; however with more and more charging stations and more efficient batteries coming on line it may not be that big a deal. My son owns a Tesla S, and I have to say it is a truly amazing car, so I'm not ruling anything out quite yet.

up to 3,500 lb. payload
bullet proof body
price: $40K - $70K depending on number of motors and options

As is usual for an EV, they make a big deal out of it's range but completely neglect how long it will take to fully recharge it. That 3-4 hour drive to your favorite campsite may end up taking 10-12 hours. Who knows? I'm sure that pulling 8 to10 thousand pounds will reduce any range numbers considerably.

Look at the test runs on TFL Truck. Towing a trailer with the Tesla suv rated as a towing vehicle by Tesla, they couldn't even make it to the first charging station .

I question the validity of the 250k pre-orders. Even if that number is true, once people do a little more research on it, that number could drop in half or more as people cancel. When our company releases new products, we always seem to ship about half of what customers pre-ordered, unless it's a ground breaking piece of equipment that covers a large need in the industry.

That's the way bulletproof glass works

Nope, that did exactly what bulletproof glass always does, it shatters to absorb the energy of the projectile, while the polymer layer inside holds the projectile, which is what was having the steel ball dropped on earlier in the vid.

The on-stage break proof glass didn’t go so well. Check out the you tube video of both side glade panels breaking during their rock-throw demo. ***awkward !!! ***

Well we need to advance the technology, were not always going to have access to crude oil based fuels. Bio fuels and plastics still have a ways to go to be self sustainable. Tesla may not have it perfected but at least he is stepping up. Without innovators like him we would all be in varying versions of a Conestoga wagon. Just my 2 cents.

Totally agree with this^^^^^. There were no gas stations with the invention of the gasoline engine, which put the bull whip maker out of business.
