Flat Tow or Dolly

Can I Flat tow my 2017 Lincoln MKC AWD or should I use a tow dolly. Sold my fifth wheel and looking to purchase a motorhome eventually and have no experience with either method.

What's the owner's manual say?

Pretty sure AWD or 4WD must be trailer towed, or flat towed ONLY IF permitted according to the owners manual.

Front and rear axles MUST rotate at the same speed, or not at all.

If you don’t see towing BEHIND an RV outlined in the OWNERS MANUAL, don’t do it. You don’t get to pick.

The MKC is not listed as being flat towable in the Dinghy towing guide. I would check your owners manual.

No idea if it might be dolly towable - but it would be less expensive and more hassle.

As stated please read your owners manual. Page 248 states emphatically that FWD and AWD cannot be towed. A FWD can be towed with a tow dolly but an AWD needs to have all 4 wheels off the ground. Sorry.

Time to look for a flat towable vehicle. You're out of luck with the Lincoln. Flat towing is safer and less hassle to hook up. With supplemental braking unit you'll have 4 wheel braking. No worries about where to store the tow dolly at home or the campground. Be mindful of the tow capacity of your Motorhome when considering a toad.

We tow my DW 2017 Lincoln MKX FWD, all 4 down. Before we bought it a few years ago to replace her 2008 AWD MKX we checked to make sure her new car could be towed 4 down which it can. Very easy to set it up to tow with an RVi 3 brake system. We selected that because it require minimal work to use it on the 2017.
