Anybody out there flat tow a Ford Focus? How does it do and do you have any problems? I'm looking at setting up my 2013. Thanks.

Did you ever get your Ford Focus set up for flat towing? We flat tow a 2013 Ford Focus Hatchback, put about 10K miles on it flat towing, BUT, in December when towing through NC the transmission engaged and caught fire (only the transmission, fire was contained). Very long process with Ford Motor Company and their office of general counsel, but they ended up denying the claim stating "improper towing" when they were unable to take the melted transmission apart. A very, very unfortunate position that they took, only to lock down any opening for a fire liability. Thankfully, insurance picked up the bill through comprehensive coverage and replaced the transmission. We're going to take the car to Camping World to get it rewired for flat towing but would love to know if you got your's set up.

We also tow our Focus, no real problems, but i do have a question!

Is there a way to get the key out and lock the doors after you disengage the battery?
